I had pain for awhile too (I'm 9 weeks out now) it was bad and was on oxycontin for 2 weeks! But then poof! It was gone! I had staples and had a drain for 8 days so that sucked. It's great when you get "real" food, be careful and patient. I was on full liquids for 2 weeks, blended for 2 then soft foods and now I'm on regular stuff if I can tolerate it, but I got too crazy with blended too quick and got sick. Can you have soups without lumps yet? That kind of kept me sane and jello but sugar free gives me a stomach ache and some people diarrhea.

Not Your Typical Pre Op Diet Post

I did not have any preop weight loss requirements at all and saw the RD once, cardiologist for stress echo and the psych for a total of 3 visits. When I started the preop diet (two months ago today!!) I was determined to follow it to the letter and I did. My program allowed one small meal (3 oz. protein and 1 cup veg) a day until the last 2 days which were liquid only. I was already a good water drinker so no issues there. Surgeon said my liver looked "fantastic" with no fatty liver at all even though my enzymes were slightly elevated before surgery. I had a pretty easy recovery with 2 weeks full liquids followed by 4 weeks pureed and just started regular foods last week. I have been completely compliant with their instructions and maybe that is why I have felt great since 4 days after surgery, had very little nausea and no vomiting , a little constipation at first and no difficulty tolerating any foods I have tried. I feel very lucky. I am not losing as fast as some but I am 60 years old and very happy with my progress thus far. I feel following all the rules has been helpful to me even though some are a PITA.

Not Your Typical Pre Op Diet Post

My husband has been supportive through this process. He just loves me for me, doesn't care about a few extra pounds, just doesn't want to be married to a hangry b***h. He doesn't understand bc he is naturally lean and buff. He eats a ton of bad food, works out a little, and still looks like a fitness model. I hate him a little for it. My body has changed a lot over the years. He wears the same size pants as when we married. A little more ear hair tho 😉

Not Your Typical Pre Op Diet Post

My poor best friend's husband does the same thing every time she goes on a diet. He more or less sabotages her, not saying your husband did that, but her's does.

    And more complications!

I don't any new food allergies. After WLS, you will have food aversions. Meats are often hard to tolerate. You are about 2 months post op, so I would say not to throw in the towel just yet. Make sure that when you try meat, to use a sauce and make sure the meat is moist. As far as bread goes, I would steer clear. I do eat whole grain bread, only, in moderation. But bread is a slippery slope for carbs. Also, if you do have whole grain bread, try toasting it. Eggs are tough for me depending on how they are made. I hear a lot of people say that they can't eat eggs post surgery.

I weighted today and I am 40 pounds lighter [emoji6] I am super excited, and soooo glad I made the decision to have surgery. Meeting with my surgeon on Wed. So I hope he's as pleased as I am. I hope you all are doing great. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app

    7 months post op

Good job!! Im 6 months out. I also had low b1 and iron but it was at my 3 months appt. I got the bariatric advantage iron and b1 (which is hella expensive) but at my 6 month appt all my labs are back to normal! I just hit 80lbs down from surgery. Best decision ever.

2 days Post Op - Update

Right now, you should be on a liquid diet, like pre-op for a day or two longer, then transition to pureed foods for 2 weeks Then to soft/moist foods for another 2 weeks. All the while getting 60-80 grams protein and 64+oz Water with 30 minutes after water before meals, and 45 minutes after meals before water. Different programs have different variations of this.Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

    And more complications!

Had my bypass on 4/20/18. Two weeks later sharp pain on lower left side. Was admitted to hospital with an abscess on my bowel. Had to stay back to stage 1 liquids. It's been 5 weeks now and still vomiting from most solids. Had an endoscopy last week. Everything looked good except some irritation, probably from throwing up everyday. I'm on heavy antacids and testing what makes me throw up. I can't do meats except Turkey, nothing fried, no breads, no eggs..... Has anyone experienced food allergies post-op?
