    Feeling Blue :(

Hey guys! I am super grateful for the surgery and the opportunity to get my life back but today I just feel sad for some reason. I have been moody and emotional (poor kids lol). I starting questioning if I did the right thing or if I made a mistake with the surgery. I was feeling sad that I would never be able to eat certain things again and almost bitter. I know it’s these foods that got me to 340lbs in the first place but I always thought that I could have everything back but just in much smaller portions. I’m not even talking about junk food or soda or anything like that. Good riddance to those things. I feel like I’m never gonna be able to eat my mom’s special dishes again or my Vietnamese food or just regular meals again. I end up feeling more depressed because then I feel ungrateful and like a complainer. Geez I just need to get my crap together! I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening

    Feeling Blue :(

Been there. Once my kids started toasting bread and making pizza... I had to fight not to break down. I just kept reminding myself of what my goals were, over and over, what and why I decided to go with the bypass. It's totally normal. And it does go away. You got this!

    June 4th surgery twins?

I’m on the other side!! Surgery went well. I’m feeling no nausea so that’s a huge plus. I’m still on pain meds so it’s all hugs & puppies for now. im allowed to have ice chips so that’s helping with the thirst. So far so good how are the other 4 June peeps feeling?

I'm back again after a few years

Part of this message is me rejoining this community, part of it is seeing what's in my profile signature., I used to have a weigh loss results bar in there. I had my surgery in 2009, almost a year after my wife did. Having a built in support partner helps. I went from around 270 to 195 in well less than a year. A large part of it was this surgery and the nutritional information. Another part of of it was re-discovering my love of running. I still had running a marathon on my bucket list when I had the surgery and I ran it in 2011 in just over 4 hours. I ended up doing six more. Life was good, my wife and I were even used in commercials as sucess stories by the Bariatric Department of The Ohio State University I will mention my wife though I looked too thin at 195, so I did go to 210 during my marathons. But after 2013 my back began to fail and I had spinal fusion surgery. That slowed me down for a year or or more, but my weight crept up about 10 pounds a year until last May 7th, I got back from a 7 day Caribbean cruise. While I only gained 1 pound on that cruise it was a new post surgery high of 244. I imediately scheduled an appointment with my clinic/hospital. Backn in 2009 I had 3ccs put into a 10cc band and never had it changed. On my visit back I had .25cc added and have lost 13 pounds in about 2 weeks. Here we go again.

    Cant lose regain

I'd suggest posting a daily example of what you eat in a typical day. Also, include exercise and activity levels. We can't help by what you've given us to go by. I suggest using a food diary app, so we can see your MACROS, ect.

    Feeling Blue :(

It does get easier. I was "lucky" to almost have slight case of food aversion from week 3-7. So nothing looked appealing and it was easier that way and even the sight or smell made me sick. However, when my appetite came back, I didn't crave the same foods. I'm over 4 months post op and I actually, had some potato chips over the weekend. I felt so sick, and I threw the bag away. So even when I "indulge" my pouch slaps my hand and discourages me from doing that ever again. A lot of people go through emotional struggles after surgery. I'd recommend establishing with a therapist and talking out the changes to your body. You will inevitably have changes in family, friends, and co worker dynamics. It is a lot to juggle.
