I'm back again after a few years

Part of this message is me rejoining this community, part of it is seeing what's in my profile signature., I used to have a weigh loss results bar in there. I had my surgery in 2009, almost a year after my wife did. Having a built in support partner helps. I went from around 270 to 195 in well less than a year. A large part of it was this surgery and the nutritional information. Another part of of it was re-discovering my love of running. I still had running a marathon on my bucket list when I had the surgery and I ran it in 2011 in just over 4 hours. I ended up doing six more. Life was good, my wife and I were even used in commercials as sucess stories by the Bariatric Department of The Ohio State University I will mention my wife though I looked too thin at 195, so I did go to 210 during my marathons. But after 2013 my back began to fail and I had spinal fusion surgery. That slowed me down for a year or or more, but my weight crept up about 10 pounds a year until last May 7th, I got back from a 7 day Caribbean cruise. While I only gained 1 pound on that cruise it was a new post surgery high of 244. I imediately scheduled an appointment with my clinic/hospital. Backn in 2009 I had 3ccs put into a 10cc band and never had it changed. On my visit back I had .25cc added and have lost 13 pounds in about 2 weeks. Here we go again.

    Consultation tomorrow!

Take a deep breath, let it out, relax , smile, be your best "you"-99 and 99/100ths bariatric surgeons are wonderfully kind compassionate individuals. If you want carry a note pad & take notes. You,will get oodles of information at this appointment but it's to make your future surgery smooth, uneventful and to insure the best outcome possible. After you talk, he or she may make a suggestion what kind of surgical procedure will be best for you. Ultimately,it is your decision but take their advice also, they are truly professionals and know their business inside out. As an example, I first considered a certain surgery but after my chat I realized the benefits of the other, and that will be the one I soon will have.. But I send good wishes and if there's anything we can do to help you along the way, just ask, okay?πŸ˜›

Wow! What an emotional ROLLER COASTER! Amazing to be pregnant after trying so long, but timing kinda off. Call your surgeon and OB. Make sure you talk to the nutritionist too. Your team can get you through this. πŸ€— Keep us posted!

    Food Control Me

Best advice, nip it in the bud now. Go see your surgeon and nutritionist, consider counseling to deal with that aspect. I let mine slide and I gained. It is so much harder to take it off when you are out of the honeymoon phase. You can do do this!!

    Spiraling out of control!! Help!!!

when you add in those carbs and sugar you start that cycle of sugar rush sugar crash/hungry as hell all over again. Sugar and simple carbs make you hungry as hell. Break away from them. There is no safe amount to eat for the vast majority of us or we would not have needed the surgery in the first place. You know what to do No sugar No simple carbs water protein track your food with an app and know your macro's

    Food Control Me

While I haven't had my procedure yet, I can relate to the obsessing over food. Is your dietician or surgeon/doctor able to give any insight? Hopefully those who have had WLS will chime in with their experiences once they reached goal weight and start maintenance.

I had a revision from a gastric band, not sleeve - and it is EVERYTHING I hoped for. No more gerd, fast weight loss, no hunger - seriously, I wish I had done it 5 years ago...
