    Help

MANY people have a bit of a stall when transitioning from pureed food to solid food when they're about three weeks out. Google "Bariatric Surgery Three Week Stall". It's super common, and super disheartening. But don't be overly concerned! It's normal and if it happens, you're not necessarily doing anything wrong. Our bodies have amazing defense mechanisms developed over thousands of years to prevent starvation. When our calories suddenly dip very low we hormonally and metabolically adjust to maintain our weight as much as we can....so...ya know...we don't starve to death. And yes, this defense mechanism SUCKS for weight loss. But the good news...is that if we stay the course....and stick to our plans consistently...eventually, we do overcome it and the scale starts moving again. I promise. Dthomas....if you're not exceding your calorie goal, if you're journaling what you eat and choosing good food...your mind IS right. Your body is just throwing you a curve ball as a defense against starvation. It's temporary! Stick to your eating plan. Have patience. And have realistic expectations. Most folks are not going to have the 50 pound losses you see on My 600 Pound Life in a few weeks. Also...losing a job and the financial crunch it brings... can be really discouraging and depressing. Exercise really will help you, even if it's just walking a few miles a day. Hang in there. It gets better.

    Sorry NO substitutions

My husband and I went for a 3.5 hour car ride in the beautiful country area we live in. It was a great day, long talks and lots of positive thoughts and feelings. We talked about a ton of stuff and he told me he was still scared about my surgery but he now understand a whole lot more and realized I have to do it or I am going to not be around when we are old and gray in our double rocker watching the world go by. ( YES HE GETS IT). We stopped at a small cafe for a late lunch. He ordered his normal cheeseburger, fries and soda , I ordered a grilled chicken breast with no oils , added spices and asked for a vegetable melody instead of mashed potato’s and gravy. I was told that I could not have any substitutions. Ok so I asked them to just put the veggies and meat on one plate and the mashed potato’s and gravy on a second plate. OMG you would have thought I was holding a gun to a babies head. I was told sorry but that is a substitution can’t do it. OK let’s try this a different way ( I am now getting a little prickly) I ask can you just put it all on one plate and bring me a to go container? I could but your still substituting veggies , WHAT i added them as a side I said . Now she has turned to my husband and said I think you need to help your wife understand we don’t do substitutions here. Chris is so dumb struck by this comment as am I I just looked at her and said cancel the whole order we’re leaving . I went to the rest room to just wash my hands and throw some cold water on my over heated head , my hubby was still sitting at the table. I walked up to him and he handed me a paper folded in half . It was a order pad slip with a note when you want to be with a real woman give me a call she had signed it and left her number. My husband had written across it 3 times SORRY NO SUBSTATION’S. My wife is 10x times the woman you will ever be . And he signed it Very Happily Married . It made me cry very happy tears of joy. I love that man so much. I knew he was behind me every step of the way but that made me realize he isn’t behind me he is right beside me walking at the same speed as I am, and he will always be there with me.

Sorry you’re feeling down. I’ve had times of feeling the same and more than one argument with family since getting the sleeve a week ago, so don’t feel alone. You’re feelings are all valid, of course you miss your cat and are sad. Crying is allowed. And you’re not acting like a third grader. You’re acting like someone who has gone through something pretty big, is adjusting to a new life, is missing home and a beloved pet. Big hugs to you.

    Do tired of vomiting

That's insane! To echo other's sentiments, try calling your PCP and getting for anti nausea meds. There is no need to suffer needlessly!

    Hi

@GFerg1986 welcome to our "small" group - we get "smaller" every day "slow loser, maybe that’s because I weigh myself every day, by the end of the week it feels like forever". or - weighing yourself every day - scale doesn't move, so you feel like you are always at a stall!! many of us have trouble staring/concentrating on the scale (I do/did) KNOCK IT OFF!! LOL - your weight loss is moving along steadily and fine read the boards, - questions, answers, experiences from all. you will probably see similar questions/thoughts that you have. Absorb all the info, comments from OP -BUT at the end of the day, listen to ONLY your doc and NUT) short for nutrition (and me too of course!! LOL) see you around the neighborhood keep up the good job kathy

After surgery my doctor prescribed a daily dose of omeprazole for the first year. This was to allow my stomach to heal properly. After the first year I discontinued the use of omeprazole and have not experienced severe acid reflux since. I am 5 years post-op. Perhaps you might speak with your surgeon and take the same approach.

    Are you “less sweaty”?

Yes. I'm way less sweaty. One of my "I'm going to do the surgery moments" was when I was sweating - very literally through a job interview. Now I'm freezing all the time. I don't know if it's permanent - I'm about 9 months post op.
