Thank you both! Right now, I'm on Bariatric Advantage for my pre-op diet, and it seems to be doing very well giving me energy and keeping me satisfied. It's easy enough to add cold water and powder to a shaker bottle and not even need a blender, so that's what I'll probably keep doing just for the sake of ease. I'll look more at protein shakes and bars, especially as I get closer to August.

    Sorry NO substitutions

My husband and I went for a 3.5 hour car ride in the beautiful country area we live in. It was a great day, long talks and lots of positive thoughts and feelings. We talked about a ton of stuff and he told me he was still scared about my surgery but he now understand a whole lot more and realized I have to do it or I am going to not be around when we are old and gray in our double rocker watching the world go by. ( YES HE GETS IT). We stopped at a small cafe for a late lunch. He ordered his normal cheeseburger, fries and soda , I ordered a grilled chicken breast with no oils , added spices and asked for a vegetable melody instead of mashed potato’s and gravy. I was told that I could not have any substitutions. Ok so I asked them to just put the veggies and meat on one plate and the mashed potato’s and gravy on a second plate. OMG you would have thought I was holding a gun to a babies head. I was told sorry but that is a substitution can’t do it. OK let’s try this a different way ( I am now getting a little prickly) I ask can you just put it all on one plate and bring me a to go container? I could but your still substituting veggies , WHAT i added them as a side I said . Now she has turned to my husband and said I think you need to help your wife understand we don’t do substitutions here. Chris is so dumb struck by this comment as am I I just looked at her and said cancel the whole order we’re leaving . I went to the rest room to just wash my hands and throw some cold water on my over heated head , my hubby was still sitting at the table. I walked up to him and he handed me a paper folded in half . It was a order pad slip with a note when you want to be with a real woman give me a call she had signed it and left her number. My husband had written across it 3 times SORRY NO SUBSTATION’S. My wife is 10x times the woman you will ever be . And he signed it Very Happily Married . It made me cry very happy tears of joy. I love that man so much. I knew he was behind me every step of the way but that made me realize he isn’t behind me he is right beside me walking at the same speed as I am, and he will always be there with me.

    33 more days!!!

I'd have to hurt someone of they try that with me..lol I have little "time until" tickers on my phone. Time until last pcp visit, time until surgeon visit to submit to insurance etc.... So, yeah, I'm a lil anxious! Good luck. Can't wait to follow along and see how it goes for you!

I am almost 2 months out. I'm outside a lot and can't always drink water. I try to start and end my days with 24 oz of water, this way I don't get dehydrated during the day when it is ore difficult. I keep a ready to go protein shake incase I do get low energy. It can also be a protein water. I take a few sips in between whatever I'm doing. Marching band may take more energy and may require extra protein and fluids. Listen to your body. I would also make sure someone knows about your surgery incase of an emergency. Also because I'm a mom with college age kids; Be careful. (I'm not saying you'll do any of this, it's just because I care.) In college there are many parties and lots of drinking. Your body cannot handle what most others will be able to tolerate. Best of luck to you. Have fun.

I’m on June 1st. I’m on day 7 of my 10 day pre op diet. I struggled a bit in the beginning but I’m doing a whole lot better now. I have never been a chocolate milk or milkshake fan but I found that I am able to tolerate the chocolate shake more than the vanilla shake which makes me want to gag. My nutritionist asked me to do the Isopure drinks for phase 1 post surgery. Have you tried those?

People have a lot of weird misconceptions about how fast they'll lose weight and how much weight they'll lose after weight loss surgery. Would be nice if the seminars did a better job of presenting this information factually up front. Mine did, but it seems like a lot of folks feel mislead when they're a few months out. Statistically, most people will lose on one side or the other of about 60% of their excess weight in 18 months. This is the average result. Most people will maintain a 55% of excess weight weight loss three years after surgery...which beats the hell out of the results of conventional dieting. Some people will hit goal and lose 100% of their excess weight....which is awesome! Some people will never reach a 50% loss of excess weight and end up feeling defeated. Obviously, if you work hard, follow your diet, follow a good exercise program and have good support...your odds of reaching goal go up. The biggest part is compliance, for sure. But there's also a biological component. Diabetics have a tougher time. Metabolic syndrome folks have a tougher time. Older folks have a tougher time. PCOD folks have a tougher time. Mental health issues can make things harder. Certain necessary medications can make things harder. People with limited mobility have a tougher time. Youth helps. Good general health helps. A good support system helps. No two people have the same experience with this wild ride.

    Orbera Surgery 2018

i had the obera balloon in may 2017 seriously if i was able to go back i wouldnt have wasted my money i woke up on the 4 th day after having the balloon and felt fine like nothing had been done i lost 17lbs in total the balloon was removed nov 15th. what they dont tell you is you will probably only lose weight the first month unless you are one of the ones who throw up for the whole 6 months that its in. i wish i had just gone for the gastric sleeve in the first place. i feel like the balloon is a waste of money but good luck on your journey.
