    Busting outta hospital

Had my sleeve done two days ago. Finished up two nights in hospital and have been discharged. Learnt that I have diabetes and being sent home with insulin. Lots to take in and get my head around. I can drink quite a bit of water but still feel so thirsty with a dry mouth. Looking forward to seeing what the coming days and weeks bring.

    Busting outta hospital

Glad you're headed home:) The diabetes could resolve with your new diet. Follow all your instructions and try not to be overwhelmed...you're on the right track and things should get better before long. Wishing you a quick recovery and great results:)

    Your Hospital Experience

So, I’m sitting in the hospital, one day post-op gastric bypass + gall bladder, and wondering how my experience has compared to others.. I have had a lot of nausea and some kind of acid reflux...lots of burping that is very acidic. I had the surgery Thursday afternoon and had a very rough night last night as I wasn’t able to get comfortable...so no sleeping. Now, today has been so much better. I’ve basically had zero pain throughout...just crazy nausea. I’ve started on clear liquids and the only problem is that I feel uncomfortably full after next to nothing...so now I’m worrying about hydration and how I’m ever going to get in 60 grams of protein a day!! So, I’d love to hear from others on your hospital experience and those early days post-op. Excited to be on the other side of this!

    Weight gain and sleeve reset

Crystal light is a fairly typical recommendation and is generally benign, if one doesn't mind artificial sweeteners. V8, particularly the low sodium variety, is great if you need to do liquids and want to maintain some semblance of nutrition in the diet. I'm not a fan of liquid diets for reset or back on track as they don't really get to the meat of the problem (so to speak) and often have a lot of artificial sweeteners that emulate the sugars and junk carbs that one is trying to eliminate. I find that basic meat and green veg does the job better as that provides most of what one needs nutritionally and satisfies hunger so that one can wean off the junk that has crept back in.

    Your Hospital Experience

I am 15 days post op and the only bad experience I had in the hospital was the darn uncomfortable beds; so I didn’t get I much sleep. I was sore but never crazy pain. I was discharged Day after surgery. One week post up I was dehydrated at my appointment. I wasn’t meeting all of my liquid intake and I had high blood pressure and heart rate. Now, so far so good *knocks on wood*

Try not to weight yourself every day, you will go mad!!! I am on day 10 of the liquid diet, I lost 5 lbs drastically in 2 days, and was the same weight for 8 days, until this morning the scale magically dropped 5 pounds overnight. Do not worry at all, the weight will continue to come off. Be patient, and also remember after surgery you WILL stall but don't let this discourage you! Just like our minds need to catch up to the new us (taking more time grocery shopping, looking for new sizes clothes shopping, etc) our body needs to catch up with itself, and all of the changes going on internally.

Until you get closer to my age then they drag out new cast of characters Menopause-No Doctor, that did not cause my bad breath, my favorite sandwich is limburger cheese on rye bread with sliced Vidalia Onions. That will drop a moose at 50 paces. Cataracts- No that didn't cause the rash in my groin folds, I just need some Nystatin powder until,i can have a tummy tuck up. See I don't have to wait for more weight loss, I already have Dunlap disease, my tummy done laps over intomy upper thighs. Poor eyesight, poor hearing or approaching senility.: "Listen Doctor Junior, I still can see the smirk on your little face, I heard what you said, and if you come within range of my hand I will be tempted to either slap your little face or knock you into next Sunday. Now take your laptop on a stand, get out of here while the gettings good." Take your little hand and wave bye-bye. It might be your office but I've spent enough here I done bought THIS room!" LOL

And obesity is a favorite scapegoat for the medical community. Hate your mother? Its obesity. Have a hangnail on you left big toe? Obesity caused it. Have a nosebleed? High blood pressure from obesity caused it. Requesting a sex change? You'd feel more satisfied with your gender if you weren't obese. It's an easy excuse,so you don't have to devote much, thought Into diagnosis. Which leads to my story of my favorite imaginary heroine Ida May. Ida May went to her doctor one day.She said "Doctor I have pains,in my right leg" Doctor says"Ida May, you're 84 years old, of course you have pain in your right leg" Ida Mays says " Yes doctor, but my,next leg is also 84 years old and it doesn't hurt a bit." Moral of story, don't give easy answers, do a little detectivevwork and find out what's really wrong.
