    Big milestone today!

Woke up this morning and did my daily weigh-in and was excited (and relieved) to finally be under 200lbs! I've been bouncing around the 200 mark for over a week. Weight is now 199.6...just barely in there, but I'll take it! lol. Getting below 200 was my first major goal since having surgery on Jan. 11 (down from 243 day of surgery). I've also gone from a 38-40 in pants size, down to a 34 inch waist. Really glad I had this surgery!

    Edema

I know some of you have had issues with edema and I would appreciate some advice. I have been seeing a cardiologist because of some other issues, but one of the things that worries him is the swelling in my legs and my shortness of breath (which has been getting worse.) I have been on 2 different oral diuretics which didn't seem to have any effect. Now, the cardiologist is putting me on IV lasix and having me continue the oral diuretic too. He intends for me to get another IV treatment every day until the edema goes down. (This is basically a shot of lasix into the vein, not a big bag of IV fluid.) I drink plenty of fluids, so I guess my question is this: Can you get dehydrated at the same time you're carrying 30-40 pounds of excess fluid?

You are right, those are valid points. I'd rather bare with this wls diet that is kind of lame sometimes than have to deal with my foot and back pains anymore. So I guess that's a trade off here.

    Edema

Following this with rapt interest, I have lymphedema in both lower legs, left worse. Been through multiple cardiac testing, urologist not too concerned about left ankle looking like shar pei puppy, maybe should have consulted a nephrologist instead? PCP likes me in tan support knee highs, but,no end of day they start wrinkling and biting in. Getting my. 64 oz liquid, has anyone else noticed when lasix does its cute tricks it dries out BM and leads to verge of constipation? Is it a coincidence or a valid point? your truly, Frust8 the Elephant🐘legged!

    Gardening

Good question. I'm an avid veggie gardener but I have raised veggie beds (always had back and neck issues so ground level gardening was out)). I've been ok to do a little light weeding from a week post op, and a few days ago at 2 weeks post op I ripped down spent bean vines from their trellises (didn't want to wait for this cold snap to kill them and make them much harder to remove in a few weeks). I'm keen to start beginners pilates at a physio but surgeon said to wait until I'm about 2 months post op first (after next surgeon follow up), and I'm still not meant to lift more than 10kilos (22lb) for a while so cant do any more of the heavy soil and mulch shoveling type work I still need to do. If you were establishing a new patch you'd need to be for to do some initial heavy work, buy you should be able to return to weedi/planting/light duties within a month post op?

I was on a full liquid, not clear liquid diet when I did this. That was day 3-21 post-op for me. All the ingredients I mentioned were dry when I ground them up and they became a fine powder. Mixed into broth or soup, with or without a blender, I didn’t have any trouble with clumping or swelling up of the ingredients. No more than with protein powder, anyway. This person did something similar but used some ingredients I wouldn’t use on a full liquid diet. But it gives you an idea and a visual. https://food-hacks.wonderhowto.com/how-to/why-you-should-make-your-own-protein-powder-0162600/ Hope his helps!

I figured since so many people have revisions from sleeve to RNY, I’d just have RNY to begin with. Higher weight loss and keep more weight off longer, per data.
