    Post op freak out

I'm honestly baffled by this. You ate a small portion of food, that in total probably had 300 calories in it. You are more than two months out and this doesn't sound like it represents any kind of overeating. Just because you are eating healthier doesn't mean that you are limited to only eating healthy things for the rest of your life. The goal is moderation which it sounds like you are doing, don't try to convince yourself that you did anything wrong or that you "cheated." You ate what you wanted and did it in a way that conformed to your weight loss goals, so congrats.

    Colon/gas left side pain

I too was told to walk walk walk. However I injured my back two weeks after surgery and have not been able to. I find the slower I eat the better I feel. If I have any gas pain, I chew A Gas-X and it goes away quickly. I'm a month out now and I don't have the gas as much as I did. I have developed better habits as far as eating slower and very very small bites that I chew a lot. Also I had severe constipation from the pain medication due to my back. This really was difficult. But I'm past that now no more pain meds. I'd rather have the back pain. Sent from my SM-J327P using BariatricPal mobile app

1 month out, I don't want to eat

I was sleeve on 3-22 and I feel the same way not hunger but drink plenty of water and protein shakes food has no appeal to me and just trying to eat soft foods gets boring. I have tried like chicken and chicken salad but at this point I can only tolerate 3or 4 baby spoons and my taste buds have change tremendously please tell me they will return to normal

Before surgery, I had constant hunger. When I was eating a meal, my mind was thinking what I would have for my next meal. It was incessant. Now the interesting thing that occurred after my RNY surgery was that I completely lost my hunger. It was not difficult to plan my minuscule meals because I wasn't really hungry. This condition does not last forever but for about a year and then the hunger returns. It just isn't as strong as before.

    Questioning everything

I'm also a dieting "pro". My bmi was 35. This has made it a million times easier to lose weight without hunger pains or needing to cheat or anything I'm only roughly 6 months out but I went from 5'10 245 to 166 in that time period. By the end of May I'll be the lightest I've been since I was a teenager. Could I have lost the weight, yes totally I've done it before (although soon I'll be in uncharted waters). Could I have kept it off? Almost certainly not. And would I constantly have been hungry miserable and forced to cheat or turn to weight loss products probably. The surgery has turned my cycle of horrible yoyoing into something long term and sustainable while allowing me to enjoy my quality of life instead of being miserable and hungry.

    Portioning cups question

I used to take my 1/4 cup measuring cup with me. I would double the serving when eating 1/2c. I'd measure the protein first. Usually 1oz diced dense protein (by weight) will fit in 1/4cup volume. Now I just eyeball it using my palm as the 3oz guide and know I won't eat all 3 oz. So I no longer measure when I go out. But I found a cool thing. Most restaurants will let you order the protein as an addition to a salad. So Mr. F orders his meal and subs for veggies when there are bad carbs involved and his meal usually comes with a side salad. So I order the grilled chicken or shrimp protein addition (which is only a few bucks) and is usually only about 2-3oz of protein. Then I take about 1oz of veg off his plate and maybe a bite or two of side salad and I know I'm having the right size portion. Then I stop when I'm full. I usually have some leftovers to bring home.

I just had my sleeve 6 days ago. The recovery is rough but I can feel in the end I am gonna be happy with the results! I lost 7lbs in six days! Summer body here I come! Don’t be scared, I was scared also, but you just have to stick with what your DR tells you. Good luck!

This may come across as brusque to those with an overly active conscience, but I live my live by the following mantra: I owe nothing to no one. I am not an open book and I owe no one any particular thing, not even the unadulterated truth. Some queries are a bit intrusive. If some random stranger asked about your favorite sex position (missionary, doggy style, etc), would you divulge? If a convicted rapist who arrived home after serving the past 10 years in prison asked for your address, would you divulge? After all, the truth shall set you free! (sarcasm intended)... In essence, my weight loss surgery is no one's business. If not divulging is considered a lie, then call me a liar. After all, it is one lie that has caused me to feel at peace for the past 2.5 years.
