    Well Alert the Media!

Here's the answer to the easy way out comment that stops them cold in their tracks: 1) I've had to go on a restrictive, liquids-only pre-op diet for 2 weeks. 2) I've had to re-lean how to eat again beginning with clear liquids, moving on to pureed, then soft foods, and finally regular food. 3) I can no longer use food to drown out anxiety, emotional pain, etc. I have to deal with it face to face so I have good days and bad days. 4) My stomach has good days and bad days and I don't always no which one it will be. Then I have to carefully eat so as not to overeat and become sick. Food must be carefully and mindfully chewed. 5) I have to work out 3-4x per week 6) I need regular vitamins for the rest of my life. * So tell me again, honey, how I took the easy way out.

Before surgery, I had constant hunger. When I was eating a meal, my mind was thinking what I would have for my next meal. It was incessant. Now the interesting thing that occurred after my RNY surgery was that I completely lost my hunger. It was not difficult to plan my minuscule meals because I wasn't really hungry. This condition does not last forever but for about a year and then the hunger returns. It just isn't as strong as before.

    New journey

I love eveything you said. I have so many haters. On my preop diet while i was eating a salad... a family member said why aren't you eating "real" food? I told her I'm on a diet (i am a secret sleever). She goes and says "If you get to be that big theres no way you will lose the weight"... so needless to say i have many people who have eyes on me wishing me to fail... that is a great motivator. I dont think i will ever put that persons ugly face on my elliptical but i sure could use that for workouts as motivation. Thanks sooo much for the advice. It does give me perspective. I am so grateful beyond words can express that I made this life changing decision to save my life. Sent from my SM-N950U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm in the same boat. I honestly went so far as to try to buy tape worms online but couldn't find any.

    New journey

Side note and off topic - @FluffyChix Maintaining takes the same discipline as weight loss mode. If you gain it comes off slow..lol I think both phases are hard work.

    Plastics

I am hoping the body stuff will be okay (I am 60 and have no plans to parade around in a bikini) but I have already planned a face/neck lift once I reach goal. My face already shows damage from years of smoking and I am sure the wrinkles will get worse after I lose the weight. Plan to continue weight training, yoga and cardio to help the body as much as possible. I also don't want to go below 150 since that was my weight for years until my early 40s.

Thanks for the welcome, allwet!!! Yea, I have a couple family members that have had this, and 2 men from work that have also done this......they are all success stories. I have 4 brains to pick, advice givers, etc. I played college football, and was mostly healthy through the years, but let my weight get away from me the past 15 or so years. I'm definitely dedicated to the lifestyle changes to be made, and will happily share my journey, to hopefully help others.

I wonder if you are reading in different places to me - overwhelmingly what I read here is positive. Tips, tricks, tools, successes and triumphs. A few things gone wrong - every time followed by encouragement on putting it right. I have got so much out of the great ideas on the recipes/food/nutrition forums. I love, at the moment, the fitness and exercise forum, as I try and step up my fitness. Hugely positive place! Nice to add your news of good progress to add to the positivity total!
