So I'm down from 337 to 196. And that's been great. But there are constant adjustments. Some of these adjustments are... awkward. This is straight up male TMI info coming up so you have been warned. For instance, my entire adult life, my uh, business, let's call it, fit into underwear and pants a certain way, and sat a certain way. It was weird enough when I had to switch sizes on underwear over and over, then switch styles, finally settling on medium sized Adidas boxer briefs that manage to keep everything where I'm used to/comfortable with it, even without the help of a bunch of excess body fat pushing it outward... while I am standing anyway. But the latest thing--and I am truly sorry for bringing this up, but where the heck else am I going to talk about this?--is that it turns out that the change in my body shape now means I am sitting on my family jewels. Well, not on them, but they rest on the chair/seat now. OK, well not on the chair, but resting much lower than I am accustomed, such they they feel like they are. They used to sort of rest on my fat/splayed out thighs. This is truly weird and I'm still not used to it. It's making me think I need to find another kind of underwear again.

Ugh! It is the worst! But I guess they are getting our New stomachs ready for their new adventures lol! The hunger is what freaks me out, I long for a mashed sweet potato! I am from cape cod and I HATE fish so that's out, plus tilapia is literally the garbage fish of the sea, it is not good for you admits the only kind I "like". Blended chicken for me.

Ok first I am going to send you a big big hug from where I am to where you are. I am going to congratulate you on loving yourself enough to take this step to change for the better. You can do this. Now for some tips. Sugar is basically cocaine and if you can detox from that the sooner the better and you will be less hungry. Protein is going to become your best friend. Learn how to get it in in a variety of ways. Also there are going to be days when you do amazing at this it will come so easy then there will be others where you will fall into temptation and just feel angry. Let those feelings pass. Acknowledge them then let them go. Sent from my SM-T380 using BariatricPal mobile app

Age 60 is the new 40?

How bizarre. I’m a nurse too!

Wow, your post made me laugh and then sigh! No, normal sized people (even ones that want to lose 40 pounds) have no idea how desperate you can become. Or how each failure piles onto the last one until you've got your own Mt. Kilimanjaro to climb. My mother (never had a weight problem, died of COPD) strongly encouraged me to take up smoking. Really! And, no, I didn't go there.

    May 3rd Surgery Date

Hi Everyone, so today it was confirmed that my surgery date is next Thursday May 3rd. I am very nervous and scared especially since I live alone. I do have a ton of support from friends where I live in Florida who are willing to help out during this time and I also have friends who have gone through it too so they are a huge support. My family, especially my mother, does not know about the surgery and I am not telling them for the fact that I know they will either try and talk me out of it or not be supportive. So I’m doing this for me. Well all I’m asking is for some prayers and I know I’m going to rely on support from everyone here on the app so please reach out with some advice. I live in West Palm Beach, FL so if anyone is local it would be nice to have some local support too. Thanks guys!

How did you pick your doctor?

Did he/she appear,to be aloof or approachable. Do they welcome questions? Will they be accessible or will you be palmed off on ED doctors who are not familiar with Bariatrics? Do they practice in a partnership or are they lome doctor for this speciality.? Are their admitting privileges at a Center of Excellence hospital(in US) or with a teaching hospital.? Does his hospital routinely book in private or semi-private rooms? How long his patients remain in hospital or does surgeon do only surgery on an outpatient basis? Is surgeon board certified or merely board eligible? When are visits booked presurgical and postsurgical? How many surgery done yearly, how, many daily? Do they have a favorite surgery or they willing to discuss it with the patient? Are all surgeries laprascopicaly or are there occasional open procedures done?
