    Somewhere along the line ...

from the research i've done, you basically have a "genetic reaction" to the surgery. in other words, don't beat yourself up or OBSESS (a big problem around here) about whether you lose 65% or 75% or 85% of your excess weight. the initial loss is virtually all out of your hands. it's the long-term years afterwards that your behavior and healthy habits will determine if you keep it off. that's what you control. that's what you should focus on. just try to be at peace with wherever you land after a year or so. it's nothing you did wrong (or right, tbh). it just is what it is. and it will be 1,000x better than where you were pre-surgery!

    Hunger pains

If you can stomach them, I like pickles because they are zero calorie and fill me up if I get hungry.

Thanks everyone so much for your thoughts. You've all really helped. Hubby and I had a "discussion" last night (there were lots of tears) and we have a plan of action. I'm going to do some soul-searching to figure out the real reason why I'm wanting the surgery. He's going to go to therapy. I'm probably also going to go to therapy. I think we'll be ok.

    Somewhere along the line ...

I read that Gastric Bypass patients lose an average of 75% of their excess body weight. At the time of surgery, I weighed 346 and my ideal body weight by BMI is approximately 190 pounds. So, that means I am carrying an excess weight of 156 pounds. 75% of 156 pounds is 117 pounds. So that means if I lost 75% of my excess weight, I would be a relatively svelt 229 pounds. Crunching the numbers is interesting. 229 seems like an impossibly long way off but I'm only going to take it day by day.

Honestly, I will probably be one of those people who buys outfits for every other size. (i.e. 24 pants now, but rocking SEVERE saggy bum LOL) and I probably won't buy anything until size 20. I love shopping, and am excited LOL. Hubby not so much... He is cheap. He may or may not being having anxiety about checking account balances LOL. Happy to donate the clothes when I outgrow to anyone here who may be on a budget.

That is a unique situation lol, you were very diligent in that situation, I probably would have blurted out (politely) if this was for the surgery so I could take notes.

thanks...cause they do sound yum. Salty, crunchy is always a craving and if I can get protein with it great.

Hello everyone! I am almost a week post op. I feel great. I am still a little sore. I haven't had any issues other than going #2. So far no vomiting which is good because I really do not like to vomit. I am on day 2 of full liquid diet and I am tolerating everything very well. I had hernia repair while being sleeved and seem to be fine. I am glad that my surgery is over and I am looking forward to the life changes ahead. Best wishes to you all!

If you’re lucky, you will. I have some short sleeve shirts that went from “too small” to “too big” before I could wear them again. “Just right” was in the middle of winter.

    Liquid diet

I had my sleeve surgery on Tuesday and am on clear liquids for a few more days. I am managing to get one protein shake down along with about 3oz of chicken broth and 2oz of jello. Other than that, it’s all water. I’m finding the water it a little harsh on my stomach by the evening, so I may need to get a little bit of apple juice or something to soften it a bit.
