    Bulk shopping.

Be a little careful of shopping in bulk...cause sometimes your tastes will change after surgery. Things you used to love, you'll suddenly hate and vice versa. Case in point....there was a chicken broth that I absolutely loved pre-surg.....afterward I couldn't gag it down...tasted like a sweaty chicken armpit. Gave away a dozen cans. Had a similar experience with orange jello and a strawberry premier protein. Bleh!

Please be up and moving. Blood clots and dehydration are the number 1 risk and potential fatal risks after surgery. You should be walking around at least 10 min every 1-2 hours to avoid a blood clot. They are no joke.

Surprisingly on this clear liquid diet (exception of Protein Drinks) my 2 Premier Protein's a day are making me not hungry. I'm also getting way over 64 oz of liquids a day as well. I'm not even close to meeting enough calories but I am losing water weight and the scale is showing. As long as I am taking all of my vitamins and getting enough protein and water in I'm okay with the lower calories. It's going to be the same way after surgery. No matter how hard we try we're not really going to be able to come even close to our calories for the day at least in the beginning. As long as I'm on track with my vitamin/nutrient levels, not dehydrated, and keeping my muscle mass, while exercising daily. I call it a win!!!

One year Post op as of today!

As of today I am down 115 lbs since my highest weight ( 255 lbs) and 95 lbs. since my day of surgery (235 lbs) at 5'7'' that has be losing 38% of my body! more than 1/3 of my has disappeared! I went from a size 16/18 to a 4/6 ( the tiniest I have every been as an adult). I was told when I did this that it was unlikely to work as well since I had been on insuling and medication for my diabetes for soo long, but even my doctor has been blown away by my results. I still don't recognize myself in the mirror sometimes, but I am adjusting to thin girl problems; such as, being cold all the time, needing extra padding to define my breast which have gone through a deflation, needing to shop in the talls because normal people aren't my size and height apparently and shirts/ pants are too short, oh and being boney means pain when on hard surfaces. I have been insulin free since day five after surgery and my A1C at 6 months out was 6.0 down from a 8.9 at two weeks prior to surgery. I am taking absolutely nothing for my blood sugars and they are between 85-120! This surgery has given me back my life. I went in with being told I'd be losing 20-30 years due to my insulin needs, and came out with such better prospects. With it has come a lot of other new things. I got a new boyfriend the january prior to surgery and 4 days ago he proposed in disneyland! We've been slowing integrating our lives ( we both have children with prior partners) and he has made such amazing strides with my daughter and with understanding my weightloss journey. I am excited to try on dresses! I was engaged once before, and I refused to try on anything besides A-lines and everything was awful( I was a size 20-22 in a wedding dress then). Tomorrow will be my first trial, I'll get sized, and try silhouettes, its so exciting now that I am not worried about them having my size or the whole world seeing my big butt and flub because dresses only come in tiny sizes. Its like the last year has been building my confidence specifically for this moment, where I am look at myself and see what everyone else does. The picture with the red shirt is from our first date (248 lbs) and the one with Minnie mouse is from this Monday minnie is showcasing the ring.

What are you guys looking forward to most after surgery? Let's keep the inspiration up. For instance... Crossing my legs again. Painting toes without any hassle. food not being on my mind constantly. My contour on my makeup being emphasized more. Snapchat filter not slimming my face but instead it's done naturally. Wearing shorts again. Not being looked at weird because I'm a chubby girl wanting a salad. Not hiding my body under layers of clothing. Not having only my face complimented. Not being embarrassed to run on the treadmill because my weight makes me feel like I'll break it. Not being looked at weird in the gym. Saving money on groceries. Bending over to tie my shoes without being breathless. Not having my heart pound out of my chest when I am walking fast. Dressing in my old cute outfits again. I'm a fashionista. Wearing High Heels Again!!!!! How about you guys? Anything you're looking forward to? No matter how silly!

What concerns do you guys have so far? For instance.. How will I get enough protein in after surgery when I wont be able to eat much? Doubts about whether or not my hunger can actually be controlled? I know I won't unhealthy but it would be new to not be hungry. How will I be able to drink enough water? Not being able to eat and drink at the same time. (I have a dry mouth and have to use a special toothpaste and mouthwash. I don't want to choke..) No caffeine. (Black Coffee) Will I be one of the ones not losing weight even though I follow the plan? How about you guys. And do you guys have any advice on any of these.

Thank you so much!!!! It's inspiring to hear from someone who has been through this. I'm short and starting at 220 which is a 44 bmi for my height. I'm nervous but excited and you made this a lot more reassuring. My husband and I joke that food will be a lot cheaper as I can pick off his plate then.
