    A few challenging days

Just wanted to post about a few challenging days. I was away the last couple of weeks to someplace warm. I did pretty good while I was away and probably under ate, though I did have a few days where I had ice cream (tiny amount), but generally hit protein goals. It was HOT where I was, so I had a ton of extra liquids. I was exercising a lot, usually a few miles of walking, 3 - 5 miles of kayaking, swimming and just generally not standing still for any moment from 6am - 10pm. I didn't weigh in officially, but had noticeable weight loss (clothes stopped fitting during the trip). Anyway now to the venting part. I was so busy during the trip that it was pretty easy to stay on track. Coming back I was off track a due to the travel/ flight. The last couple days I'm back in the cold and doing less activity (wife is sick so I have the kids 24/7). I am STARVING. I've also eaten some carbs that I shouldn't and some nuts. Nothing crazy, but my calories are up 300 - 500 the last few days. I'm still hitting protein and fluid goals. I just can't figure out why I'm so hungry all of a sudden. Today I decided would be back on track so I removed foods I was struggling with (nuts and cheese-its) from the house and am focused on doing better. Hopefully I can get some exercise in today as well... Do you have similar stories? Ideas for getting back on track or curbing spikes in hunger?

    How best to show support.

Everything everyone said above! How awesome that you're making this effort. My husband has always been very supportive of my decision and respectful of how I eat, even the thousands of times I've slipped up, but after eight years, he still doesn't know the difference between fats, carbs, and proteins. The best thing you can do is educate yourself about everything she'll be dealing with so you can understand why she doesn't want to eat the lovely breaded, frozen fish sticks (but it's meat!) and french fries (it's a vegetable!) you made for dinner LOL. Yep, her emotions may be all over the map...our fat stores a ton of hormones, so when the fat burns off, those hormones are released. BUT one possible bonus for the both of you is that many, many people have stated that all those fun new hormones also make them way more, ummm...amorous? So there's something to hope for as well! Good luck to you both!

Good luck. During this phase I added veggies to cream soups, extra bone broth, then strained it, the added flavor was def needed. Ricotta came the next week, be careful tastes change after surgery - at least for me. I can barely tolerate chocolate, and def not sf chocolate pudding, who knows why? And at 4 months I cannot tolerate lettuce yet, I tried it last night again and NOPE. And beef has to be super tender/moist, and chicken breast is no too - thighs are ok. Scallops and fish are fine, and at most 2 shrimp. I tried pizza once last Sunday and it's a no as well - the crust just gummed up in the sleeve.....(and then came back up).

Wahooo girl! I hope to be there right with you on the full liquid phase by Wednesday (2.21.18). I can have protein drinks, strained cream and regular soups, clear liquids, Greek yogurt thinned down with Fairlife fat free milk. Nothing that has fiber in it--so green smoothies are out. I figure I will get some jars/cans of tomato bisque, poblano soup, etc and strain them and add protein powder to them. Also, I can have V-8 which also makes a tasty "soup" with protein and spices, heated up to warm it. I think I remember I can have jello sf pudding as well as the jello, popsicles, sf fudgesicles. I'm gonna try mixing Premier Protein with SF pudding or unflavored jello and see if I can churn it into ice cream. LOL. Will see. I'm with the others. Ricotta Bake won't come until puree phase for me, which will be in about 3 weeks.

    Great video for pre-surgery!

I found this last night, so to late for me, but this woman has some good comments! Her channel is full of good info. She had the sleeve, and then a year later had a baby. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app
