    Who is observing Lent?

I know I'm a day late on this, but I haven't come up with what I am giving up for Lent this year. We had a sermon a few years ago about how Lent is not a diet plan, it's not meant to be a second chance at re-starting a New Year's resolution. That sort of kicked me right in the guilt-button, because I had given up sugar before and the whole focus ended up being how great I felt and how much weight I had lost. Not the point of Lent. So all you Anglicans/Catholics, tell me what you chose and why!

    Safe to sleep on stomach?

Thanks for asking that - I had the same question. I was never explicitly told by my doctors not to sleep on stomach, and that's normally how I sleep. I've been getting by using a duvet as a wedge to keep me on my side, and a couple of pillows. It does make sense to stay off the stomach for at least a couple of weeks. I have my 2 week post op meeting with doctor tomorrow, so I will double check with him and post answer here!

    Safe to sleep on stomach?

If only!! I was always a stomach sleeper. Not so much now. I'm not sure if it is because of my RNY now, or after my skin removal surgey. There is no way I can sleep on my stomach now. It feels like my skin is stretching out. So now I am a side sleeper. I sleep on my right side if I have gas it seems to help getting rid of it if I lie on my left side. I a one of the old ones but not to much help. Sorry

    Who is observing Lent?

I chose to choose my words more carefully, be more sensitive to those around me, and more self-aware of how my words impact others. I've already tripped up once but it's a good habit to get into, and I think Jesus would approve

Tealael my late husband's friend Nowell, we called him THE VISION would tell you that you were imprisioned and handcuffed in a previous incarnation. Man slept with an upside crystal over his bed to funnel in the wisdom and power of the universe. Haven't heard from him in years, maybe the fool crystal fell down and impaled him. Who knows? Head hunger...

Honestly, I don't think it ever went away. For me, I had to make food fuel, and I spent six months before the surgery doing that. Even at 16 months post-op, I'll see something (like this toffee cake dessert my colleagues were having the other night) and think about how good it would be, but I won't have it. I only eat certain things (mostly meat, cheese, eggs, and green vegetables) and that's that. That was the only way for me to deal with it. It's been a very effective approach for me.

Just because we "can" doesn't mean we "should". You know? This is where the retraining and committing to new habits really comes in. Go back to basics. If you're scared now, that's good! Rather be scared now in the early honeymoon phase than 2 years out when you're eating as you always did prior to surgery and gaining like a beast.
