    Why did you do it?

Felt myself getting slower daily.Tired of bragging this old body and its weight sround, many of my high school classmates died in the last year, I'm not ready to join them. I have a young spirt, with weight loss a hope for the future. I do not want to die At this weight. I am pretty inside, it's time for the outside to reflect it. Join me on this journey everyone. Weekend diet vacation

It's been 4 months of careful dieting in preparation for surgery. I had a 4 day weekend come up and decided to visit my sister. I was sleeping on her couch and eating out, so not on diet. Now I'm panicking that's I've seriously messed up. Help.

    High carb ? Low carb?

I'm doing well on the above, though there's very little variety. Honestly I'd love to just eat chicken, that's mostly what I ate pre surgery, but for whatever reason post surgery chick breast is a no go so far. I think I do better with chicken or turkey sausage because it's a little bit more moist and soft. The hot dogs are 97% fat free, nitrate free, so minimal fat and calories, but good protein. We're allowed non starchy vegetables and 1 serving max of fruit a day. They want us to focus on lean protein for the most part, so I've mostly stayed away from beef or fatty meats. Cheese is low fat and I try to have only 1 or 2 servings a day (Carbs). I do track calories and am averaging around 1,100 calories per day (range 900 - 1200). Weight's coming off well and I'm meeting with the nutritionist later this week so we will see what she thinks. I'm sure she will want more vegetables, though it's been tough to find the room and still hit protein goals.

I'm in a similar situation. BMI is 40.6 I have co morbidities but my previous doctor didn't like officially diagnosing me. She said I had asthma when I was 12. Depression at 13. GERD at 15. Gastritis at 17. Ulcer at 19. Diabetes at 21. Now I'm 22 switching doctors and according to my health records. I was never diagnosed with anything other than mental health thanks to my therapist. The only co morbiditirs my insurances allows with BMI under 40 are diabetes and hypertension (or life threatening cardio problems) So I have to say "I hope I have diabetes" otherwise I'm screwed on surgery.

    NEW BREASTFEEDING MAMA!

I had my surgery when I was still breastfeeding my 9 month old. It wasn't a problem at all. I had to pump and dump the first 24 hours after surgery, but then I was put on pain meds that were okay to take while breastfeeding. My husband actually brought her to me and I breastfed her while I was still in the hospital. You can find comfortable ways to hold your baby even with the incisions. Be extra vigilant getting in your Vitamins and Protein because baby will be taking lots of your nutrients, but I didn't have any problems. Don't stress out. You can do it! And you'll be giving your baby a much healthier mama to care for them! Sent from my LG-D801 using the BariatricPal App
