    BM Stall

Hey everyone! I hate to bring up this little situation but I had my sleeve successfully done January 30th. Yay! I’m 34lbs down from my highest weight of 298. Yay! Here’s my question. How long before I have a BM?? I haven’t had one since the day before surgery. I feel super constipated and I was going to call my doctors office Monday morning but I figured asking y’all wouldn’t hurt either.

No magical reset, but your progress is not bad. It slows down quite a bit after the first month of two. What worked for me as I get the cravings is talking about it and sticking to a habit with what I eat. Ohh and always eat your protein first. HW 309 SW. 274 CW. 217 GW 190 Surgery 09/25/17

I am in salad heaven. I missed them so much. Like you, sleeved2win, I craved them terribly...and I wasn't disappointed when we reunited:) Best wishes on continued success.

    pop up

Those pop ups are even worse when you are on the shopping side. I just ignore them as I know what I want.

    DS with ALO

I believe he does the RNY and the single anastomosis DS. If you're looking for a full DS, Dr. Esquerra is probably your best bet.

    Had surgery 1/17

Congrats on surgery. I just urge you to remember, you weren't on a Magic Bus that just magically arrived at the corner of morbid obesity and pain. Doing the same things and expecting different outcomes is the definition of insanity. So I truly, truly pray you will not just eat the same foods that got you to the dance, but rather adopt a new philosophy and relationship/behaviors with super healthy foods while you have this golden shot time frame to have the grace period to learn them. Success to you!

    Always tired

I was short of being incapacitated because of extreme fatigue. Even though was doing at least 50gm of protein and taking my vitamin and B12. Even taking a shower felt like I had just ran a marathon, there was nothing wrong with me, the surgery just hit me this way. I never did have nausea though except the day after surgery. I’m now 6 weeks post op and I feel I get more energy every day. It took me almost 5 weeks to start feeling normal again.

So I had my 6 months check up at the hospital on Thursday, 1 day before 7 months. I saw my surgeon who could not be more thrilled with me. I have lost 82% of my excess weight. (which is a little strange as I have lost 91% of what will give me a normal BMI) They don't want me to loose too much more weight as I'll start to look sickly. They don't think I'll need any plastics, as I don't have an over hang and my blood results are great (the doctor at my support group will probably disagree. All my values are within range, but some are in the lower end, and since she is a specialist on supplements for bariatrics, she prefers us in the upper range). They also have a score that they calculate, that I don't remember, but it was very high, and she called me a success case. I don't go back until my 1 year check up. (I'll just have blood drawn in 3 months and show my support group doctor) They were actually fully booked for the BIA test, but the surgeon wanted med to have one, so she called and asked if they could fit me in, and they could. They are done by the nutritionist. She was also very impressed when she saw me, and after the test she could not be happier. I have the values for all 3 tests (1 month pre op, 6 weeks post op and 7 months post op) I managed to gain another 4 lbs before starting my pre op diet, so it wasn't at my very highest. The only negative thing was my phase angle. It has dropped. It's a measurement that shows how well your muscles are getting nutrition. That along with my total protein (from the blood test) she wants me to eat more, and get more protein. Other than that, everything was great and she was so impressed, especially how much muscles I still have. All the working out and walking has helped tremendously. I have included pictures from about 6 months and 7 months post up. It's only like 5 lbs between the pictures, but I see several changes.

    Confused by signs

I had my Lapband January, 2011 - it was nothing but problems the entire time. I had too much restriction the entire time and the weight gain. The last three, or so, years of that torture device, I was unable to eat and in doubled over pain most of the time. I also developed severe GERD. My gastro referred me to a different Bariatric doctor. Long story short - the Lapband caused multiple problems and I had to have an emergency revision to gastric bypass. Dr. Did not recommend the sleeve for me because a high percentage of patients that already have GERD, it makes it worse. Please see another doctor before your situation gets worse like mine did. I don’t think you will be sorry with a revision to sleeve or bypass. It was a wonderful decision for me - not constantly sick anymore!
