You can do it. Trust me. I seen my Dr and when I seen him in December he told me I had gained 15lbs since I last see him last year well He gave me till Janurey 3rd to lose 5 to 10 pounds and I didn't think I could because of Christmas and New Year's it felt impossible so after Christmas I cut out soda to start and store eating sweets when I went to see him I lost 10lbs and since I started my liquid diet 10 days ago I have lost an additional 15 lbs and I am completely shocked. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I have my Surgery Tuesday and I am beyond excited to see how much I have lost. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    February Sleeve

I’ve always been embarrassed to speak about my struggles at support group meetings. Hopefully I can change this and be there for others after the surgery. It’s nice to see this app and how supportive we can be. My surgery (sleeve) is scheduled for Feb 21st and the nerves are starting to kick in lol. I have my pre-op appointment Jan 23 and not looking forward to this liquid diet, but hey it is what it is! How are you guys holding up? Any advice?

Can I live off sf popsicles?

I had to experiment a little with temperatures in the beginning, I found that things at room temp or slightly warm felt better. Just try your best to stay hydrated at this point, something like isopure protein drink may be easier than the shakes...almost tastes like a melted ice pop. Things will get easier, good luck!

Change to type of surgery in surgey

Thanks for posting this, I'll want to make sure I'm not sleeved and that open is permissible, my gastroenterologist just switched me to Dexilant from Prilosec, he calls D the Ferrari of GERD medicine. Does seem to be helping and has cut down on my gastritis pain. No more coffee etc but maybe a small, price to pay. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

So personally I don't think you are asking too much at all. When my mom and I went on a liquid diet to lose weight, it was hard because we were trying to make this HUGE lifestyle change while the other half of our family carried on as though it wasn't a big deal. Which, looking back, hindered the progress we made. Because if your family is not supporting you by still going to fast food restaurants while you are there and not empathizing with you and your struggle, what's to stop you from easing into old habits. That's not to say tell them to stop altogether, at least not at this point, but asking them to be more considerate and maybe let you know if they are going to a fast food place so you can opt out. I've also been on the side where I wasn't dieting and my some in my family were. I made the accommodations because I loved them and wanted to support them on this journey to be the most successful they could be. If it meant not eating taco bell in front of them I gladly did it, because I stood by my support of them. I think you should have a talk with her and just explain how you need to be supported to have the best possible success because maybe she doesn't see her actions as unsupportive. Also if the whole family is trying to eat healthier why is is she going to a fast food joint anyway. I think you guys should probably sit down and have the talk again so as to clear the air and pave the way for a healthier life.

I think your girlfriend could be more supportive. I also have been there and done that...with little kids and hectic schedules. It's tough. So, I understand both perspectives a little. That said.... I think you're being flexible...being ok with them eating junk as long as it's not around you. I don't think she's being reasonable expecting you to be around that kinda food....particularly on your pre-op diet....which is very difficult. The way I see it...she can have it one of two ways....you all eat healthier together, or you have a pass to remove yourself when junk food is being consumed. To not allow you to remove yourself from your addiction...is unreasonable in my opinion. And about the kid's diet......if they share your genetics...it's probably best that they don't get into the habit of eating crap. And even if they don't share your genetics....healthy eating habits are learned.

WTF DID MY HUSBAND JUST SAY?

Man, that dude is sad. He really doesn't have your back. How can someone who loves you actually talk like that? Easy way out....You know what is the easy way out? Having a friggin metabolism that allows you to stay thin while eating burgers, fries, pizza, candy, etc. Never having to look at the scale and decide, I'm only going to have water instead of the friggin beer that everyone else will be drinking at the party. As a matter of fact, the easy way out would be to say, "f** it! I don't care about my health. I don't care about my looks. I am just going to eat what I want, and drink what I want, and everyone can just Kiss My a**!" Tell him that the next time he wants to be intimate, you already took the easy way out, and took care of yourself. Then tell him to do the same. I'm a guy, and probably breaking man code, but damn!
