    Surgery tomorrow 12/27

Getting better. Still a ton of trapped gas, but I have been able to stop the dilaudid pain meds. Still taking the zofran and meds for esophageal spasms pretty regularly. Able to consume a little more liquid each day and some protein. Deffinately not a walk in the park yet tho. Whoever says this is the easy way out can kiss my ass

Thanks. The struggle is very real. I was a wine drinker before surgery but was more on the moderate side. When my surgeon discussed it I kind of brushed it off thinking it wasn't going to be a problem. After surgery, as I am also a student often stressing on papers, I found I was reaching for the glass more than usual! I have to admit my shopping has leveled out as I am also a fan of online shopping. Lately, I have had to cut back as clothes I have been ordering end up sliding off me within weeks so I have resorted to shopping in my closet from previous years. I will wait until goal weight to shop again! lol. As for glowing skin, that is probably the vitamins that I take religiously or maybe its the makeup! lol. I have often seen some folks who end up with tired looking skin and I think it has to do with taking vitamins. I was a bit shocked to find out that not everyone takes them as they should:) Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi guys, My surgery was on 12/28 and I am nervous that I’m not eating enough. I have to force myself to drink a protein shake a day. Should I be eating more? My surgeon said for the first week she wants me to at least drink one protein shake to keep up my muscle. Is this normal for me not wanting to eat anything?

Sounds like when the kids move out -- we still overbuy stuff like lunchmeat and meats in general!!

I'm still getting used to that and I'm 9 months post op. I love the idea. Just gotta avoid making chili or soup since I live alone and my freezer is tiny. Proof of diet attempts?

Hi, how are you? Depending on your insurance it most likely won’t be a problem. Most insurance companies require a consecutive between 3 and 6 month physician supervised diet(with your PCP)my surgeon’s office gave me all of the paperwork that I needed to have filled out, so I literally just take it with me to my appointments and have it filled out.

I never hit my goal weight either, and I've regained since then. Not sure how much: I'm afraid to look at the scale. I hope it's only 15, but I think it might be closer to 25 or 30. I've gotten addicted to processed carbs again, so I need to go off them, but it's tough. I was near perfect on my diet for a year, but never did any exercise. I think that really prevented me from reaching my goal. I'm feeting very motivated to exercise now; in fact, I'm going tomorrow to get a gym membership. (I do much better at exercise with a gym membership than working out at home.) I'd like to do keto because it's so effective, but since the surgery, my body really does not like it when I eat much fat. Also, there aren't a lot of protein sources I like, so I'm thinking about looking into a more plant based diet. I like the idea of fruits, vegetables, beans, string cheese, Greek yogurt, eggs, and some meat here and there. I should go back to protein shakes, but I drank so many for so long that I'm really tired of them. I think I'll start the Pound of Cure diet and see where it takes me. Anyway, good luck to you! It's tough when it seems that everyone else has been so successful, but tomorrow is another chance at success.

    Soups

Found these at H-E-B. They look good and nice and smooth for the liquid phase. No added sugar and the spinach one has 5g of protein in a cup.
