18 lbs in two weeks is a phenomenal rate of loss. Most of us lose 15-25 lbs in the entire first month. You are going to end up on the higher end of that range, if not over. You may be basing your expectations on what you see on shows like "My 600 lb Life". Yes, those people do drop a ton of weight the first month or two, but don't forget, they are starting out at 600+ lbs. For those of us more "normal" obese people, that much of a weight loss isn't at all common.. You will undoubtedly see a few of us who drop 30 lbs the first month, but they are outliers. Your weight loss is right on target - in fact, it's above average. P.S. I *only* lost 16 lbs the first month (and that's in a month - not two weeks), and I lost over 200 lbs. Your commitment to your program is what makes the difference - not your rate of weight loss. But again, yours is absolutely fine.

    ESG at Hopkins

Zaa, agree with Creekimp13, Johns Hopkins is a world class medical facility so I would have no concerns about the hospital performing this procedure. It's an endoscope, relatively minimally invasive, so there's no incision to heal or be concerned with. What is more important IMHO is the doctor who will be performing this procedure on you. Do you know who this would be? Are you familiar with their experience with ESG or Vertical Sleeve Gastronomy? Typical questions are how many procedures they have done? What is the rate and type of complications that their patients have experienced? Feel free to ask questions we would be glad to help. Thx Tex

    Exercise

Walking is going to help your body heal from surgery. If you have any health concerns...Call your team. I like the advice from @Creekimp13 three set of ten. Make this your first surgery small goal to obtain. Reward yourself when you hit that small goal. Best of luck to you! Jenn

    Two Weeks Out

Every plan is different, so I'd suggest calling your doctor and/or nutritionist to discuss what you can do. I definitely have problems with pills--vitamins or medications--when I don't have food in my stomach first. My pre-op plan was very different: protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, lean dinner with protein and veggies, one fruit per day. It was, in my opinion, much better than a liquid-only diet pre-op (although the last day was clear liquids only). But, again, check with your nutritionist. You may be able to do something different than you are doing now. Good luck.

    Hospital discharge today!

Usually you have to build up to getting the full amount. The first couple of weeks it was rare for me to get near my protein goal because I just couldn't fit that much in.

I'm not "in the know," but my protein goal for the first week post surgery is about 40-48g daily.
