    Surgery tomorrow 12/27

New here. Been reading these boards for the last few weeks, my first time posting. I am scheduled for surgery at 8:30 am tomorrow morning, 12/27. Getting nervous! Excited for what this means for my life, mostly nervous about having actual surgery and complications. But it’s taken me two years to get to this point and there is no turning back now. Sit have to have faith that everything is going to be fine.

I’m on the 17th of Jan too!! . It sounds like you’re pretty prepared for post-op. I’m cooking up soups to purée and freeze so I won’t need to worry about that stuff when I get home. Aside from that, I figure I’ll buy what I need as I learn about my new stomach and health needs.

Sand is pretty low calorie. (Very crunchy too!)

I was just the same. Surely I could do it myself (despite a lifetime of evidence)? 13 days post op and Not. One. Single. Regret. Great support crew, right here. xxx to you.

    Not losing weight

You have to trust the process.. I remeber losing 14 lbs per week avg first couple of months.. but I was bug (405lbs). The lower your bmi the lower pounds you loose per week. Metabolism is different too.. forget the scale and focus on size.. believe or not you might be loosing inches.. just trust procress.. follow your diet.. meet your liquid intake and protein and you will be ok.. cheers pal! And dont get discouraged

    Pain free?

Hi dfluke87 I had my surgery Nov 27 and I'll have pain still if I move the wrong way or bending over the wrong or my biggest struggle has been with wearing normal pants. My wrist of my pants hit right where my 2 incisions...I say 2 because I have the one where they took out my stomach than I have one by my belly button. Even sitting a certain way causes pain. So you aren't alone and don't forget everyone heals differently and everyone handles pain differently. But you aren't alone this was a major surgery and they are cutting through your muscles so it will take some time to heal and the pain to fully go away. I sleep with an ice pack on my stomach every night. You got this! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

It sounds like you're about to sabotage yourself again. What if, this time, you broke that pattern & achieved a different result?

2 wks post, soft food help!

Cottage cheese, yogurt, beans, tofu, homemade soups, split pea soup. I'm two and a half weeks out, I eat rotisserie chicken in broth and soup cut up really fine. Plans differ so wildly... Just make sure you're eating enough calories, and getting your protein and fluid goals. All is well:) Be patient. I'm gonna have finely chopped up turkey, mashed taters and gravy at Christmas. I do a lot of smoothies and put some leafy greens and fruit in there (watch the sugar and calories)

The weight they have for you is the weight they submit to insurance. At least that is what happened with me. I had to be a certain weight pre op before they would do the surgery because my bmi was really high. It all depends on the requirements of your insurance.
