    6 week post op update

Hi everyone! Here's my 6 week update! The beginning was rough but I have no regrets. I'm feeling better every day. I have a lot more to go but am getting there! Pre OP : 225 Current weight: 190

    Full Liquids/ What is normal?

Exactly right, soup is basically a slider food in that it goes in and out easily and quickly. Just make sure you're hitting or getting close to your protein goals each day and you'll be good! Just take it slow when you are cleared to start having blended/soft foods. You'll fill up FAST. Like 2oz FAST.

I'm just about a year out at this point. My NUT said if I needed to take a sip here and there to help wash my food down it's okay but to make it a general rule not to drink with meals. The only time I usually drink while eating is if I'm having a dense protein that's dry, which sometimes happens if I'm eating out or at someone else's home. My husband (who does the cooking in our family) usually is really good at making meat super moist) or if I'm eating something super spicy and I need a little sip to wash it down.

Yes the binder is very helpful. I used it for all my abdominal surgeries. Good luck. Sent from my VS987 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

Please keep in mind BOTH surgeries have low complication rates if you are thinking of leaks or surgery specific type complications. There are common risks to any procedure performed under anesthesia such as a blood clot, pneumonia, reactions to anesthesia, etc.

The amount of weight that you lose, your age and genes, and how you carry the weight in the first place are the major drivers of whether or not you are going to have excess skin. You can lose weight super slow, and still have tons of extra skin. You can lose it quickly, and have virtually no excess skin. I wouldn't let that be the determinant of which surgery I have. You should speak to your doctor about his/her preference based upon your bmi, health history, whether you already have gerd or acid reflux, etc. Congratulations, and good luck on your journey!

I'm 7 weeks post op and just got back in the gym. It's hard, very hard. I last 30 min and I'm drained after that. If I push myself to do 45 min I'll end up in bed. Before surgery I could workout and feel fine but now no way. Baby steps I guess. Just take it easy don't overdue it. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Just checking in

Have more of the fiber items like beans that will help some. Remember, your intake is much lower than before. If you were a daily pooper, you now may be every other day just due to not having a large volume of significant intake. My doc recommended milk of magnesia as the last resort for being clogged up. The biggest caution was to not let yourself get dehydrated if you use that stuff. Have you tried stool softners? That was their recommendation to our class if you weren't really making progress on your own.
