7 my days till my surgery.

If you haven't done this already, wean yourself from caffeine and carbonated beverages now. After I gave up my 6 diet coke a day habit, I suffered from a week of severe withdrawal syndrome consisting of severe headaches and body aches. I was miserable. You don't want to combine the effects of caffeine withdrawal with the effects of surgery. By making this change alone, I dropped 20 pounds pre-op.

I'm 1 week out today and per Dr orders I'm Full-liquids until 12/15. Can someone send me ideas of what you are drinking through the day every day? I'm having a hard time with this right now. I appreciate all the ideas I can get!

Yes, do a local search for a bariatric clinic/doctor and spend an evening at a seminar. It could prove to be a catalyst, one way or another to your decision.

    Four Month Surgi-versary

Yup, I've made it to the four-month point. About 105 lbs down since the start, about 65 since surgery on August 4. I can confirm that it does get better each week! I feel like I hit a turning point in terms of getting closer to feeling "normal." I'm still cautiously introducing new foods and fine tuning my sense of fullness so I stop before I get uncomfortable (or sick.) I learned a good lesson this past week about why you must eat all your proteins first: I was having a meeting in a cafe and was hungry for lunch so I ordered a kale salad. It was my first time having raw kale, with regular dressing on the side, but I was thrilled when I was able to eat it, no problem. However, I remained incredibly full for the rest of the day, and unable to eat anything else. I guess it just took a looooooonnnnngggg time to digest. I also have healed other physical issues well enough to take a fitness class. When I was about 5 years old, I was kicked out of a ballet class because I was too fat (this was well before the days when everyone had a chance to participate!). So the first class I took now was a Barre Conditioning. It felt like a little redemption. I may be a ballerina yet!!

    Sleeping

After returning from the hospital, many people find it difficult to sleep. Some people will sleep on a recliner for a few days. But don't do what I did - which was try to sleep on a water bed. Every time I tried to get up, it was instant pain. As you get further along and the fat disappears between you knees, it can be very difficult to sleep on your side because you can feel your bones rubbing together. I found that sticking a pillow between my legs at night help this immensely.
