    Weight Loss meds after surgery

Thanks for that info. I appreciate it. I hear what you are saying, my biggest concern is for my heart. The reason I'm having the surgery is because the meds stopped working and if I go off of them I balloon up. I'm having the Endoscopic Sleeve so maybe because it is less invasive there is less risk?? Who the heck know... Thanks

I never had a drain, just a pain med pump that I youtubed on how to pull out and pulled it out after day 3 of my surgery. I would check in your binder, if your doctor gave you one, or give your doctor a call. Each case/person is different. sw: 331 pre-op: 314 cw: 274

    Weight Loss meds after surgery

Thank you, what you said really reaignates with me. It makes sense and It has motivated me to start focusing on my food choices without phentermine before my procedure. I have taken myself off it befor so I can handl the side effects. I just need a good plan so I don’t make poor choices. Thanks a million!!

    Gum and Beans

Since Mr. F. is not a beany kinda fella, I no longer cook them for myself. For now, I can have a spoon or two at a time, but any more than that and my blood sugar spikes. So I'm waiting for surgery so I can enjoy them again. Here's my favorite black bean recipe! 1. Buy a can of black beans--any brand without added sugar. 2. Open can. 3. Pour contents into small saucepan. 4. Add 1 bayleaf, granulated garlic, dehydrated onion, cumin, ground coriander (optional), black pepper, kosher salt to taste. 5. Add a couple of spoons of salsa. I like the HEB Hatch Salsa-Hot (red or green) 6. Simmer for 10-15 minutes. 7. Add 1tbsp butter and let it melt. (It reduces the amount of "canned" taste.) 8. (Optional: Eat vegetarian or add 2oz of any kind of leftover meat. Pork of any kind, including sausage crumbles, rocks. Bacon--the bomb.) 9. Stir. Serve. It's a lot of steps. And I realize it sounds complicated, but you should totally give it a try!

How are you doing after Thanksgiving?

Hi All! Thanksgiving was great. Had the meal with the wife and friends. The food was excellent! I had 3 Oz of white turkey and about a spoonful of 3 or 4 vegetables. I even had about one third of a dinner roll. I took leftovers home and recreated my plate on the scale. It came out to about 7 ounces of food total. Calories were a little high at about 350 but it was a holiday dinner! I did avoid the gravy and creamy vegetables. Went back over for desert 3 hours later. Just had a sliver of pumpkin pie with some Cool Whip. Didn't feel bad I wasn't eating and spent as much time with my plate as the others did. I just didn't go back for seconds! I have to live with my weight loss decision and might as well enjoy it!

How are you doing after Thanksgiving?

Not be wild with abandon nor a hard case because that never helped prior to this. I try to keep food anxiety from slipping in there. There will be food!!! I ate mashed potato and could have skipped that, I also tried a a couple bites of cornbread stuffing and a bite of pumpkin pie and coconut cream pie. And dark meat turkey. Nothing drastic.

There's no need to be insulting, folks. I haven't yet been through this process, so I'm simply asking questions. Calling it 'bonkers' or implying that I'm too stupid to go to the ER when necessary is unnecessary rudeness on your part.

    Feel like crP

It has to do with how opiods effect the stomach, not restricting pain mangement. From what I've told. It is to prevent constipation and slowing of digestion along with other things. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using BariatricPal mobile app

((hugs)) Sorry about your miscarriage and happy about your 2 children. If it were me, I would do 2 things now. 1. Go see my WLsurgeon and get them to send me to a nutritionist and a therapist in that order. Start the 6 month documentation with the therapist now. Get to finally working on the eating behaviors that are keeping me heavy and down. Get all of my blood work done to r/o thyroid, endocrine issues and/or underlying medical conditions. 2. Start working on getting an approval for revision to DS and find a surgeon in my network that can do that revision surgery--not all surgeons will or can do revisions to DS or RNY. Honestly, at this present weight and with the problems you had losing to goal with the VSG and if it was me, I'd go nuclear on my weight. DS is THEEEEEEEE most effective wl tool from a malabsorption standpoint--especially given what I think may also be the emotional/psychological eating issues associated with the regain and present weight. BTW, no judgement here. We all deal with emotional/behavioral issues with food relationships that simply MUST be fixed if we want to have any hope of losing and keeping the weight off long term.
