It was a mini vacation with my best friend....this crazy girl I've known for 40 years. (we met the first day of first grade..we talk damned near every day and see each other once a week) We took a few days to go see some haunted houses and House on the Rock in Wisconsin. House on the Rock is impossible to describe. It's sort of like witnessing a museum, obsessive freak show collector, hoarder, steam punk enthusiast, tree house, the worlds biggest carousel and doll collection....and Japanese garden....all at the same time. It's an amazing place, but to really enjoy it, you have to be kinda artsy and half nuts.....which is why my friend and I were thrilled out of our socks. Takes all day to see everything and you still feel like you haven't scratched the surface. Don't go if you're afraid of heights. The haunted house in Chicago was excellent....the Chicago traffic wasn't. This is an annual trip for us, and we had a blast. My bestie got me a Fitbit for my birthday this year, and we've been doing step competitions and cooking each other healthy meals....has been really nice to have someone so actively in my corner. Love that girl.

    Alcohol

Well. I did not wait long. I resumed drinking about 6 months out I think. And that was a big mistake, at least for me. Alcohol effects me differently now. If I haven’t eaten enough I get DRUNK FAST and I’ll blackout. It’s bad. I had to learn that the hard way. It’s also takes the place of food calories because I struggle to drink and eat together so it becomes a choice between drinking or eating. And I need the food more. And you do too!! Especially early on. I do love wine but even three years out I try and limit my alcohol intake. I’m careful about it. I can see why you want to drink and I wouldn’t think in moderation it’s a problem. But it could possibly slow your weightloss. For me, it did not slow my weightloss but I oddly tend to lose weight when I drink. Most people gain from it. But if you are feeling healthy I don’t see a problem with having a little in moderation here and there, maybe a Glass now and then. I’d say in the first year you can just be very cautious. [emoji4] and don’t let people on here bully you. There is a nice way to give advice and trollish ways. Just remember the people on here, they are all hungry and sober AF.

Thought my pouch wasn’t working Post-Op. Seriously thought of calling my surgeon, but alas the patience is paying off. My pouch does work. Here’s the breakdown week1-week 5 post op rny. (242lbs highest wt. and surg day was 227lbs after liquid diet (started using NO SODIUM BROTHS & it flew off then) Week 1-2 no hunger. Week 3 felt hunger again but it was satisfied very easily with tiny portions of Puréeds(1/4 cup). Week 4 had a little more hunger and needed more to satisfy at times 1/4-1/2 cup Puréeds. On week 5 (mech soft diet starting now) & not hungry at all again. Forgotten to eat 3 times already, so this week is different. The weights FLYING off about a pound a day now. (Initially I lost 6 lbs the day I was discharged from hosp, but... NOTHNG ELSE LOST week 1 or week 2 Week 3 lost 3 lbs. Week 4 lost 4 lbs. At my 1 month post op visit I’de lost 13 lbs post op, but lost 27lbs total with preop liquid diet included. (Ok ok ok so not bad afterall...) Week 5 lost 6 lbs I’m losing at about pound per day now. So my body is letting go of weight finally at a much faster pace. It’s crazy how it wouldn’t move AT ALL week 1-2! Just starting week 6 at still about a pound per day loss still so far.. Total lost now: 33 lbs w/ Preop included. Crazy how my body/ metabolism was so slow to engage in wt loss. Prob due to needing to see if I was starving or if I would still give my body protein & nourishment & when it saw I was eating foods again (albeit in much smaller portions) but it started letting go then. Curious what others post op wk by wk breakdown looks like & if this is typical..?

Frankette...wishing you a good outcome, no matter if your surgery is on schedule or delayed. It's important to walk after surgery to prevent blood clots, so perhaps that's part of his hesitation? Wishing you good health and a safe surgery:) So sorry for the setback!

I need help with my diet

Oh, and I also get full down in the belly. As soon as you feel that, stop eating. That's your signal. (It does go away quickly, but your meal is done, regardless).

    Fruit?

Thank you, Berry! I was doing yogurt but can no longer take the taste of artificial sweeteners even Stevia. I liked cottage cheese as a kid. Maybe I can tolerate it now. You’re right. I need to keep experimenting. If you think of anything else, I welcome your ideas and tips.
