    How to not be impatient

Protein, fluids and change in diet are big points for me. I try to keep my body shocked by changing my diet and exercise around a lot plus just keep hitting those protein and fluid goals. This journey can be so frustrating. I've lost 113 pounds (83) since surgery but I'm still frustrated as I've been stalled for 2 months now. I hit 100 pounds down total around the 7 month mark but I've struggled since hitting that milestone. There will be ups and there will be downs but you have to just keep moving forward, try not to allow old habits to creep back in and know that every pound lost leaves your body a pound healthier.

I'm sorry you are feeling out of control with your weight. Set up an appointment with your surgeons office. Get their opinion if you have stretched your stomach. They can help you get back on track. Another option to consider is counseling/therapy. It will help address your mindset with weight loss. Food choices and grazing will cause significant weight gain. Grazing is the consistent, day-long consumption of low value food items, in other words: snacking. For example, mindlessly finishing your child’s breakfast cereal, stopping at mcdonalds, popping two donut holes into your mouth at the office, eating a protein bar mid-afternoon and a strawberry Greek yogurt with granola at night. The best way to address grazing after bariatric surgery is to employ preventive measures prior to the onset. That said, many patients will not succeed preemptively and must therefore deal with the problem of grazing only after it presents. Should you find yourself in the habit of grazing after bariatric surgery, the obvious resolution is to break the habit. This is no doubt easier said than done, but consider all that you have achieved to this point. The first step is to ask for help. It is unlikely that you can resolve your maladaptive eating alone. So simply ask for the help. Use your support network and those professionals who are currently among your inner circle. Begin to monitor yourself closely. Write down or log your food in MYFITNESSPAL all that you eat or drink for a period of three days or so, and then compare your notes with the nutrition plan from your bariatric surgeon’s office to note how much they do or do not correlate. Learn the different types of hunger, specifically head, eating out of boredom and physical hunger. In addition, cut out all junk food. Sit when you eat, and mindfully enjoy the meal. Eat meals that contain protein and fiber in the form of fresh and lightly cooked or raw fruits and vegetables because they make you feel full. Drink plenty of water over the course of the day except at meal time. WIshing you the best, Jenn

I had my gastric sleeve on 10/23 and am on a full liquid diet. However, I mostly just drink my clear protein drinks since I started back at work. I've been feeling really full since I started my vitamin supplements and have a hard time getting in all my protein/water. I now feel that there is a constant lump in my throat (full feeling). I am trying to drink past it, but sometimes I get nauseated. I only urinate once a day and its very dark. I know I'm getting dehydrated, but don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Stalls happen, you have to just stay the course. Fluids and Protein should be your major focus, especially as early out as you are. Try upping your calories a little, I found most stalls for me broke when I increased my calorie intake as opposed to decreasing it. Also change up your exercise a little to shock your body into burning fat again. I've been stalled for 2 months almost currently, it's frustrating but you just have to stick with it.

I'm not a Dr, only a nurse. In order to keep your kidneys functioning they at least need to produce 30cc every 8 hours, so as everyone else says... Head to the ER now! Sent from my XT1650 using BariatricPal mobile app

31 lbs is amazing . Don’t get down on yourself, everyone stalls. Just keep to the program and keep in mind you may not have lost pounds but might have lost inches which is just as good !

Hello everyone, just a quick compliment to this website and its community. You all seem to be very kind and caring to each other, supporting one another during the time of sleevery. My admiration for that. I am 20 days post op and struggle a lot with my diet. During the first week post op I lost 22lbs. Since last week I've lost another 6lbs. Last night I weighed myself and I was a 134kg and today (it's evening) I've weighed myself again and I gained 2lbs (1kg) and I'm back on 135kg. This just scared the living heck out of me. I barely eat, because I don't really know what to eat. I struggle so much with protein-intake. I bought this whey protein for so much money (we don't have much money..) and I can't even get it down! My belly can't go with the heavy thickness of protein shakes, it makes me ill. I saw they have this awesome 30g protein per bottle protein water in England. They don't have it in Germany (where I'm from), it's frustrating. Dieting is hell for me right now, my body feels weak, I can barely focus on tasks. I drink quite normally, just water and tea. I can take in liquids max 800ml a day, if it goes well 1l a day. Are there any pureed foods with lots of protein? I google all day but it drives me mad. Sometimes there are foods listed that I can't even afford (like avocados, they're very expensive here where I live). I have no one that I can talk to about this so I feel absolutely left alone, I'm on the verge of crying. I don't know how I'm going to manage this. Liquid stage went fine but pureed stage seems to be going to be tough on me. I could eat pureed potatoes but then people say they have lots of carbs. If anybody has some heartfelt advice, I'd be more than glad and happy to receive it. Thank you.
