I had my gastric sleeve on 10/23 and am on a full liquid diet. However, I mostly just drink my clear protein drinks since I started back at work. I've been feeling really full since I started my vitamin supplements and have a hard time getting in all my protein/water. I now feel that there is a constant lump in my throat (full feeling). I am trying to drink past it, but sometimes I get nauseated. I only urinate once a day and its very dark. I know I'm getting dehydrated, but don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Stalls happen, you have to just stay the course. Fluids and Protein should be your major focus, especially as early out as you are. Try upping your calories a little, I found most stalls for me broke when I increased my calorie intake as opposed to decreasing it. Also change up your exercise a little to shock your body into burning fat again. I've been stalled for 2 months almost currently, it's frustrating but you just have to stick with it.

I'm not a Dr, only a nurse. In order to keep your kidneys functioning they at least need to produce 30cc every 8 hours, so as everyone else says... Head to the ER now! Sent from my XT1650 using BariatricPal mobile app

So I had my sleeve on 11-6.. I’ve read a lot of stories on how hard it was to drink water.. how painful the removal of the drain tube was.. I’ve had zero problems drinking water I’ve always loved water and I can drink a glass of water with no problem just take smaller drinks.. soft foods have been a problem .. the biggest thing I wish I knew was that eve tho ur not hungry your mind is still addicted to food and I CRAVED unhealthy food and was not hungry at all.. I had to drink blue Powerade after surgery so if I had a leak it would be in my drain tube it gave me horrible heart burn and caused me to vomit a lot .. I wish I just drank purple Kool aid instead sugar free of course.. an when u get to eat again if u over eat .. it hurts ur mind says eat it up but please please go slow it’s painful if you don’t

31 lbs is amazing . Don’t get down on yourself, everyone stalls. Just keep to the program and keep in mind you may not have lost pounds but might have lost inches which is just as good !

I have a couple of things. That I would have an insane amount of gas anytime I ate or drank in the first couple of months. And that no amount of eating slowly can prevent that. Not an issue now at 10 weeks but was awful the first month. No regrets though. That eating would get disgusting. As in, I would not get the same feeling from food as I used to get and I would have food aversions to things to used to enjoy. Like guac, peanut butter, fried chicken. That my taste bud would change. Also that the sensation of food being stuck in your throat and throwing up is so uncomfortable and weird. When I started solids, it was interesting with chicken. And throwing up is just not the same. Thankfully it's better no gross sour bile taste anymore. Anyways.....lmao....my surgeon did tell me that. The last one is water. I knew already from nut class that I would need to sip slow with my water all day. But I don't think I knew the extent to which I would be unable physically to drink water. Especially since I was breastfeeding at the time of surgery and drinking 4L water a day! It was a huge shock to my system. I couldn't even drink up to 20 ounces that first week. And now I am at 48-64ounces. My norm is 3L a day pre sleeve. Anyways. I am just a newbie at 2.5 months. So still learning an discovering as I go. We shall see how things go. So grateful for this tool. The first 65 pounds has been awesome to get off, I am now only 15 pounds away from the weight I was before ever getting pregnant. That's one of my milestones.

    Time out of work

My surgery is on Tuesday. I'm thinking I'll return to work the following Wednesday. I work in an office setting. I walk from my office to the printer about 30 times a day. Does this sound reasonable?

Hello everyone, just a quick compliment to this website and its community. You all seem to be very kind and caring to each other, supporting one another during the time of sleevery. My admiration for that. I am 20 days post op and struggle a lot with my diet. During the first week post op I lost 22lbs. Since last week I've lost another 6lbs. Last night I weighed myself and I was a 134kg and today (it's evening) I've weighed myself again and I gained 2lbs (1kg) and I'm back on 135kg. This just scared the living heck out of me. I barely eat, because I don't really know what to eat. I struggle so much with protein-intake. I bought this whey protein for so much money (we don't have much money..) and I can't even get it down! My belly can't go with the heavy thickness of protein shakes, it makes me ill. I saw they have this awesome 30g protein per bottle protein water in England. They don't have it in Germany (where I'm from), it's frustrating. Dieting is hell for me right now, my body feels weak, I can barely focus on tasks. I drink quite normally, just water and tea. I can take in liquids max 800ml a day, if it goes well 1l a day. Are there any pureed foods with lots of protein? I google all day but it drives me mad. Sometimes there are foods listed that I can't even afford (like avocados, they're very expensive here where I live). I have no one that I can talk to about this so I feel absolutely left alone, I'm on the verge of crying. I don't know how I'm going to manage this. Liquid stage went fine but pureed stage seems to be going to be tough on me. I could eat pureed potatoes but then people say they have lots of carbs. If anybody has some heartfelt advice, I'd be more than glad and happy to receive it. Thank you.

The sleeve is a suitable option for your medical conditions. Many veteran sleevers on here have had those conditions completely reversed by the sleeve. Now about food, you are sounding worried about consuming quantities of food...which means you need to examine just HOW important is a sandwich after all? Advice can be given to give equal weight to both scenarios - #1 - protein, then veg, then what will fit or #2 - everything but smaller amounts. Your body will need the correct grams of protein to maintain muscle and keep your metabolism fired up or you will suffer deficiencies during the weight loss phase. You have to decide how important the food is to you - more than your health? You will be able to have a small amount of most foods - but not until you are closer to maintenance. Some people never tolerate rice, bread, or pasta and consider them inferior nutrition for a bariatric program. Restriction is the whole idea of the surgery, it isn't the hard part. The hard part is your relationship with food.
