    Why is it a secret?

    It's because its my business. It's private. I'm not the one that puts every little thing on facebook either. I've had other medical surgical procedures done and never broadcasted it. My Husband, kids , mom and sister know.. thats my support . No one else needs to gossip. Telling others puts a giant magnifying glass on everything I do and Im not one for the spotlight.

    Stopped losing weight

    Stalls happen, you have to just stay the course. Fluids and Protein should be your major focus, especially as early out as you are. Try upping your calories a little, I found most stalls for me broke when I increased my calorie intake as opposed to decreasing it. Also change up your exercise a little to shock your body into burning fat again. I've been stalled for 2 months almost currently, it's frustrating but you just have to stick with it.

    I also was ER/PR/HER2, Nausea is quite controllable , and appetite not affected to much. The first three round of chemo are processed though your bladder so if you thinking you’ve been drinking a lot of water now, get ready. The last three rounds are the nasty ones, and the drugs wipe out your sense of taste. It comes back quickly when you’re done, though. That makes it really hard to eat because sun much food , even stuff you like, will taste like cardboard or sawdust. You’ll have to get creative with proteins . Don’t forget to get a new toothbrush every three weeks so you don’t get mouth cankers, which makes it hard to eat . No spread is WONDERFUL , I had it in three lymph nodes, and I’m fine ten years later. Herceptin , for HER2 is a miracle drug. If you’re getting radiation after chemo you will unlikely notice it affects you at all. Every day after chemo you feel so much better you’d have to get hit by a truck to get worse. You’re working on the two most amazing journeys ever, at the same time. So very brave and strong, and don’t forget that you are , even when you feel like crap. From here, the only way out is UP.     31 lbs is amazing . Don’t get down on yourself, everyone stalls. Just keep to the program and keep in mind you may not have lost pounds but might have lost inches which is just as good !

    My surgeon did warn of the bounce-back, he said it's normal to bounce back 5-10 pounds when you settle into maintenance so he set my goal 10 pounds less than where he wants me to be long term. That being said I also say maintain your body where it feels most comfortable for you. My surgeons goal is 175 with 185 long term so that's slightly above normal BMI for me but at almost 5'11" I feel pretty comfortable where I am right now (185-188) If I lose more great, but if I don't at least I'm at a place where Im much healthier.

    I'm at the point in my journey where all my "peers" have pretty much arrived at goal. I still have at least another 40lbs to drop to a normal BMI (I started out heavier than any of them). But, I'm not focusing on a specific #on the scale. I'm actually looking at my loose skin and calculating the sweet spot for maximal losses while retaining a hope of not needing plastics. At this moment, I've reached a relatively healthy weight (size 12). Any extra losses are icing. Plastics aren't icing, they are a step in the wrong direction (for me). So, I'll keep losing, for now, but BMI means pretty much nil in the grand scheme of things. As for probable regain.. yeah, pretty much everyone gains some. I'll take that into consideration as I near goal. Might shoot for an extra 10lbs off... but not at the risk of becoming airborn in a mild breeze...

    I think it’s better not to overthink it. Choose a goal that seems realistic to you. It’s hard to predict what your body will do. Many people surpass their goal because they simply can’t eat more. You may find that to be the case. Or your body may resist and want to stay at a higher weight than you wanted. I think the important thing is to take it one day at a time and realize that while you can do your best some of it is just up to your body. A lot of people regain some weight or all their weight but a lot of people don’t. Try not to worry.

    Time out of work

    My surgery is on Tuesday. I'm thinking I'll return to work the following Wednesday. I work in an office setting. I walk from my office to the printer about 30 times a day. Does this sound reasonable?

    Stay the course. ((hugs)) I struggle with loss while on all protein drinks. I build up fluid cuz they can be insulinogenic. I don't think I will really start losing until I'm able to get my insulin back down again while eating real food. That may take 3-5 weeks after surgery.
