I hear you. You *might* have vagus nerve problems, but you might not. Does that mean you shouldn't have the surgery? Let me ask another question: You *might* get hit by a car crossing the street. Does that mean you shouldn't leave the house? No matter what we do, there are risks. Even doing nothing has risks, especially when it comes to our bodies. In your plea, I hear fear talking. It's time to tell fear to STFU. Good luck!

I am 17 months post gastric sleeve. In the first 7 months I lost 100 lbs. Then for the next 5 months I bounced up & down the same 6 lbs. Unfortunately, I still have over 100 lbs to go. It gets even worse from there. I've noticed over the last couple of months I have fallen back into my old eating habits of nothing but JUNK. And I mean pure junk. Cookies & candy have been my main stay along with pure sugar laden ice coffee from DD ( I shouldn't even call it ice coffee since they barely have room to even put coffee in it with the amount of CREAM and SUGAR and CARAMEL). These ice coffees are a new thing since surgery. I always hated anything to do with coffee but since a few months after surgery, I craved them and started getting them once in a while. It has now become almost a daily thing (atleast 5 times a week, if not more). Also I have almost completely stopped taking vitamins. For some reason, I just can't remember to take them. I think it has to do with how many times a day I have to take them, I don't know. I mean, there's the thyroid meds that you have to take an hour before you eat anything, then the multi and B12 and Vit D after I eat. Then you have to wait at least 4-5 hrs to take the calcium then you have to take another calcium later on in the day. I think my mind gets so overwhelmed, that I say screw it and I forget to take them. How do I dig myself out of this deep hole that I put myself in to? Is it to late to reset this whole surgery thing and get back on the losing train? And getting in any kind of exercise is a joke. I do absolutely nothing. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF? HELP!!!

    Disappointed by food

use that to its full advantage. It'll never be easier to lose weight than it is now -when food holds little interest and your hunger is gone. All that will come back in time - probably within a few months - and then things will get a lot more challenging. Be glad that you have no interest in food right now and milk it for all its worth.

    STARVING!!!

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I had lapband surgery on the 10th of this month. My recovery is ok, I have not thrown up and I'm a little sore but I am starving and have a massive headache!! I don't know what to do. I feel like I've made the biggest mistake. I'm on a 7 day liquid diet and I'm constantly starving. I need suggestions or advice PLEASE!!!

It's funny I'm going through a lot trying to stay on track. Today I didn't will it all.But I refuse to give up. I'm looking for a strong buddy. Someone I can call upon when I have those urges and tell me the truth and not sugarcoat anything. Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

    BEST body weight scale?

I have a Yunmai scale that measures body fat %. I've had the opportunity to compare its measurements against measurements from a DEXA body fat scan on 3 separate occasions a couple months apart. Each time, the Yunmai scale was dead on whereas the Tanita medical-grade scale at my doctor's office (with more bells/whistles, costing >$1000) was quite a bit off most of the time.

    HAIR LOSS

AT ABOUT 3 MONTHS I STARTED LOSING LOTS AND LOTS OF HAIR. WHAT WAS WORSE WAS THAT IT WAS IN THE FRONT WHERE EVERYONE CAN SEE. I WAS SO FREAKED OUT ABOUT MY HAIR LOSS I WENT TO MY DOCTOR TO SEE WHAT I CAN DO. FIRST THING HE ASKED IS IF I TAKE ALL MY VITAMINS....WELL THAT WAS A NEGATIVE. I WASN'T TAKING THEM ON A REGULAR BASIS BECAUSE THEY'D MAKE ME FEEL SICK. I STARTED TAKING THEM RELIGIOUSLY AND ADDED BIOTIN. MY HAIR HAS BEEN GROWING OUT NOW, AND I DON'T LOSE AS MUCH HAIR. ***SO THE KEY IS TO MAKE SURE YOU TAKE ALL YOUR VITAMINS EVERY SINGLE DAY***

    Diner ideas

Just look up recipes, and make them your own. You can make virtually anything low carb, low fat, vegetarian, or whatever you want by switching ingredients. I like to use staples over and over in different meals to save time and waste. Taco Salad (Spinach, Tomato, black beans, cheese, cilantro, red onion, avocado slices, seasoned turkey or veggie crumbles) Asparagus Enchilada Burrito (leftover seasoned turkey or veggie crumbles, cheese, roasted asparagus, black beans wrapped in Flatout Multigrain w/ Flax flatbread with Las Palmas enchilada sauce (1/4 cup - can eat 1/2 in a sitting) Roasted poblanos stuffed with leftover seasoned veggie crumbles, spinach, cheese, mushrooms and Las Palmas enchilada sauce ( 1/4 cup) Trident Wild Caught Salmon Patty w/sautéed spinach and quinoa Spinach Salad w/leftover Trident Wild Caught Salmon (spinach, tomato, red onion, cheese, chopped roasted asparagus, Olive Garden light Italian salad dressing) Chicken and Shrimp Skewers (Chicken pieces, shrimp, tri-colored bell peppers, red onion in pieces) fajita style leftover Chicken and shrimp fajita taco on Flatout flatbread with avocado, spinach and fat free refried black beans leftover fajita Chicken Caesar Salad (spinach, shredded parmesan cheese, caesar dressing, chopped red onion, chicken)

    Extra / Loose Skin

Loose skin is a concern of mine too, but it's certainly a better option than continuing to live life at 400lbs. I plan to get in to lifting as soon as I am able (I believe 10 weeks after surgery...?) Hopefully that will help!

    Approval Question.

I have a good friend that does approvals for BC/BS. While they are not my insurance carrier, it was interesting to see the process from her perspective. She said that she rarely if ever denies bariatric surgery if the BMI is over 35. The rest of the hoops you jump through are just a formality. My surgeons office knew exactly what I needed to do and how to submit each part of the requirements. I needed a letter from my primary doc stating she had supervised my diet and exercise for at least 6 mos. They didn't require a log or any notes. There was no minimum weight to be lost prior to surgery either. Your surgeon's office should be your best resource.
