    Regretting my surgery.

Rayelen, I'd take it a step further and say I think everyone should be in therapy -- so worthwhile.

    Regretting my surgery.

Rose, I would go back to |Therapy for the depression and regretting having the sleeve. Im sure at your age dear it seems like forever that you are having to hold things down as you are. But in fact you are setting the base for your future for a healthier life, Not just for your body inside and out but for your Mental state as well. Please do not regret this surgery. I just came out of Gastric bypass October 3rd myself. I was like 2 lbs smaller then you when I started this and now im down to 230 pounds. Im glad you chose the sleeve over the band. I had the band and boy did it ever fail. Your not much taller then I am either and our goals are the same for the weight. So please, seek out the theropy that will work the best for you, keep your head up and continue your weight loss. Use your book (phases) as your bible and your work out place as your church and be faith full to yourself.

    Exercise

I am not at a month post RNY just yet and all I have been released to do is walking, and I am doing it for someone who barely got 3000 steps before I am no averaging 5000 so I am pretty proud of myself. My question for all of you is what exercises did you start with? I see a lot of people who say that now they run marathons and are darn near experts at yoga but way back when, when you had just started out what did you do? What was the first thing after walking that you started with and how was it, how did it feel?

    Steroids, obesity, and WLS

My heart literally just skipped a beat! I have been telling my neurologist/neurosurgeon/orthopedic surgeons and pain doctors this same thing for years...and no one believes me! Every time I get an injection or take a Medrol dose pack, I gain a few pounds, most of which do not come off! I have a print out of all my procedures the past 4 years in pain management as well as my weight at my first visit (165) and my weight at my last visit (205). Obviously some of this also has to do with limitations on exercise due to pain, but I KNOW the steroids caused so much of it. I am up almost the whole night after I get an injection and somehow always forget it's going to happen until 3 a.m. and I'm wide awake thinking about food! Anyway, I apologize for going somewhat off topic from OP point, I was just really excited to find someone else w/the same issue. Also, I love the advice about going low carb during that time. I'd never thought to alter my diet to help prevent/minimize that gain, but I am betting it would help. So thanks for the tip!

    Sugar Free Crystal Light

Oh it is? Even if the packs from the hospital say it, but ones from the store don’t. That’s awesome!!! Thank you so much.

Almost a year out and scared...

it's difficult - cravings are real! I try to eat a lot of protein, fiber, and healthy fats (and stay within my calorie limit, of course) to keep myself from getting too hungry. But yes, after the honeymoon period ends, it becomes a lifelong challenge. Just keep reminding yourself who much better you look and feel after losing all that weight, and how you don't ever want to gain it back!!!

    No hunger - 5.5yrs

Surgery date: 1/27/2011 I did great with my routine for a good while. If I didn't remember to get my food my wife or kids would. Then life sped up as the weight came off, I started focusing on the exercise and eating right. I never noticed that I never had hunger pangs or stomach "growling". No, I do not have an eating disorder. I have my phone set to go off to eat (but I can't exactly carry meals with me to appointments which I have a lot of, mine or kids), which I do eat. I often forget when home if I'm busy cleaning, I'm the house husband lol. well ff to now. I've passed my goal by... 30-35lbs or so. 200 was goal and I'm 166ish. I haven't felt a bit of hunger in so many years I honestly don't even remember what it feels like anymore. I do not regret the surgery one but as I was dying from my weight. I just miss being hungry lol

    Sex addiction?

I can only hope that this haapens to me, or at least some of it:-) Sex has been a huge issue for my husband an me, he wants it all the time and I don't because I don't have the desire and I don't feel sexy, but he doesn't understand that because he loves me no matter what. He has also accused me of getting it elsewhere becuase he isn't getting it enough, and I have tried to explain to him that it is not him, it is me and if I wanted it I would surely go to him for it, it makes me feel really bad and guilty and this is the one issue we fight about constantly, so I am really hoping for a change once the weight starts coming off. I don't think it is abonormal it is probably having everything kept inside you for so long and it is now getting a release and going crazy. I say go with it and see what happens, it is very good that you are talking to him about it.

    Sex addiction?

OK, new to this posting thing. Just wanted to say, I havent had the surgery yet, but my biggest fear is when I do I will have these same issues again. I think that I may have gained the weight in the first place to try and stay true to my husband of 12 years. I have always been a bit oversexual. It's possible that right now my inner sex pervert is just hibernating but will awaken as soon as some of the weight is gone. I don't have the answers for you but I do understand your problem. Andi
