Every time you post I feel better about my slow loss. It can get discouraging (although I sabotaged myself last month) and then I remember what a success you are!

I was operated on on Tuesday of this week and I finally go home tomorrow. My question is should I weigh myself or wait u til my first post-op dr appt? I see some people who have had amazing results and others who have gained. I know this is a time of healing and everyone’s body is different but I must admit I’m curious to say the least? Suggestions are most welcomed.

Random strands. Kind of like the hair loss you get after pregnancy. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 200.6

    Why are diets so different?

I have been allowed to eat everything since week 6. As long as I stick to my protein requirement, the rest is up to me. Also, no liquid diet for me. Not pre op and only 2 days post op. By day 4 I was eating solid food with restrictions. There are so many guidelines out there. Looks to me that the US is the strictest about the liquid diet.

The pain seems to depend on the type of incision. But u will have gas pain so bring some gas-x strips to hospital as they help. I didn't need pain killers post op just some walking and gas-x. Good luck with the surgery!! All the best!

    Sleeve VS Bypass

Hi Brittany! I am in MN too and trying to decide as well. I am having the surgery at either Abbott Northwestern or United Hospital. I am leaning towards the sleeve because I have MS and I think with the Sleeve you can still absorb some vitamins and minerals. I sure wish I'd done this when I was your age! Let me know what you decide! Have a good weekend! Megan

I am a medical professional and I would say to stay away from the traditional BMI chart. It does not take into consideration body type or percent of lean muscle. I use the meter my trainer has which tells me I am at 23% body fat. That might sound like a big number but professional athletes and marathon runners are in the teens, so take that into consideration and I will go with it.

For me it was wanting to lose weight a little faster than the sleeve. I know I'll have to watch the excess skin and try to tone myself as I go on, but I'm ready to do this after 20 years of ups and downs. The doctor said I could go either way, but I made a good choice at the same time. Did you choose or was one recommended over the other?
