    Today is the day

Just arrived at the hospital, 40 minutes before my check in time, and waiting to get this going. Nervous, anxious, excited, you name it. Ready to do this though

    Sonoma fires- Staying focused

First priority is your safety, and health. You have my prayers, all of you in the path of this destruction my heart goes out to you. I have had a house fire, not a forest fire where I lost all, but the stress still takes a huge toll on your mental and physical health. If you are told to evacuate, please just go and be safe. If you have time right now, prepare to leave. Take inventory with photos, put documents in a container in your vehicles now, get extra canned food and water in your vehicle, pet supplies, make a list of where you can evacuate to and call for availibilty - all this prep will put your mind more at ease. You will be in my prayers.

    Sonoma fires- Staying focused

10/15/17 Good Afternoon All, I've been having trouble not regressing to eat bad things since the Sonoma Wildfires started. I can't eat a lot at a time but I can snack. I'm trying to stay strong but when I get stressed its very hard to do. These fires are scary. We are still in our house but I worry about evacuating myself, my husband and our 3 cats a lot. It makes me want to eat. Any suggestions on willpower?

@Apple203 As soon as I hit 5 years, my oncologist started encouraging me to get RNY surgery. He told me the studies were coming back that WLS reduced recurrence risks substantially. Thanks for sharing this study!!

I'm not sure what's wrong with me

I will agree with what @Berry78 said. Complacency is sometimes a symptom of low level depression. And as a parent and wife you are a caretaker, and we sometimes neglect our own needs and feel guilty asking for more or examining our own issues - 'I have to make dinner, I have to drive kids to sports and I don't have time to relax, or even think about myself.' I take wellbutrin and it has made a huge difference, it has few side effects and litlle to no withdrawal if you want to stop them.

I'm not sure what's wrong with me

I suspect, based on a lot of what you said, that you don't believe simply sitting there and talking will make that much of a difference. So why carve a chunk of time and effort out of your day to do it. Anxiety is EXHAUSTING, and you have no energy because of it. You will pick up the phone because you are going to see if meds might help. Medication, combined with therapy, might be just the leg-up you need.

    Pre op diet- getting dizzy

I'm on a 2 week one of just sugar free jelly and 3 pints of skimmed milk and sugar free drinks like tea and coffee. I'm on day 7 and I realised if I had for got to take my vitamins I felt it more too. I would try and stick to it as much as you can I know it's hard and it feels like your body is craving and needing these things but I keep telling my self there is a reason they have asked me to do this so I need to stick to it. I thought I was going to pass out just going to the bathroom from my bedroom. Can you have more vegetable content in your broth maybe give you a bit of a kick. Low fat most of the time means they have to fill it with something else as they have taken the fat so stick more sugar in it so wont help you shrink your liver. If you do have somthing try to make sure it has naturaly accuring sugars than refined so fruit and such. Or you could try moving and getting up slower that might help to let your body a just.

    Hair loss!!

What happens is your body was shocked by the surgery. When the body is shocked, it thinks the world is ending, and it shuts down all non-essential functions. Hair growth is non-essential, so it threw the "off switch". The hair stays on your head for about 3-6 months, then will fall out. After it falls out, it takes another 6 months to start growing again. (These are all approximations). So by the time you are 12 months postop, you should start seeing it regrow. The losses, when caused just by the surgery, should not be permanent. If you are low on iron or some other nutrients, it may have trouble coming back. But you won't know that unless a blood tests shows a deficiency. Do not take extra vitamins, especially iron, because it's possible to take too much. In the meantime, you could try a shorter hair style that will allow the remaining hair to fluff up more. You can try a wig or hats, or... I wouldn't recommend Rogain.. but I don't know anything about it really. I've lost at least half my hair, and am almost 7 months postop. It's still falling out, but might have slowed down a smidge. I cut mine shorter so it fluffs up more.
