For me it was wanting to lose weight a little faster than the sleeve. I know I'll have to watch the excess skin and try to tone myself as I go on, but I'm ready to do this after 20 years of ups and downs. The doctor said I could go either way, but I made a good choice at the same time. Did you choose or was one recommended over the other?

RNY was recommended by my surgeon but he said I could choose either. I choose RNY because I wanted a one and done. I didn't have issues with GERD but I didn't want to chance having problems with reflux after the sleeve and having to have a revision to RNY. Very happy with my decision. Not worried about skin and such. I did this for my health as I was facing 2 knee replacements. Now I think I can survive without them - still can't jump but I can walk without pain and that's all I care about.

    Post Op Frustration

I had trouble getting all protein and water in right after surgery. I got protein water that counted for both things. If you like coconut, Cocotein is a great one and you can get it on Amazon or lucky vitamin. Isopure waters have a ton of protein too, but they do have an odd taste due to the whey protein in them. They have 40 grams per bottle. I got these on Amazon too.

Every bariatric program is different and the RD for the program will go by their program’s guidelines. Mine says it doesn’t count, as do many unfortunately. I can only intake about 3 ounces of anything in a 20 to 30 minute time frame and then I am full. I would be drinking 24 hours a day to get it all in, so I do what I can. I added soft protein this week tho, but still only get 3 ounces down of anything.

Great question! I've been making a list of little jobs around the house that I've been putting off, like organizing the file cabinet and kitchen cupboards.

    I'M FREAKING OUT!

I definitely understand that too. I guess this is something you can talk to your surgeon about. Let him know your concerns I'm sure he will be able to work out a good pain management system for your recovery and give you a few pointers. Sounds like they already put you through the wringer with the last one so this should be a breeze. I had some trouble sleeping as well for the first few nights. I found walking before bed helped and also sleeping on my side with the use of small pillows (which i was given by the hospital) helped to hold my stomach into a comfy position. play around with different pillows and positions and we're all rooting for you. Good Luck !!
