On making protein pudding...I buy whatever sugar free flavor of store brand, or Jello brand pudding I like. Then I add the protein shake instead of milk, to the instant mix. A small box takes 2 cups of milk, so I use a full premier protein, and then the balance in non-fat milk, whisk it up, pop it into a container and into fridge for atleast 10 min. Overnight is better, as it gives a smoother texture. I've done Choc pudding with choc protein, vanilla pudding with banana cream protein, and vanilla with vanilla pudding I love the chocolate, and a little serving works wonders...YUM!

    Is my incision infected?

So far it looks ok. But having a bump that hurts, I imagine it feels like a little pimple? You may have a tiny little infection within the skin.. possibly. Just keep it clean as per your doc's directions, and of course, feel free to contact your doc now or later with concerns. A little infection that's localized in the skin isn't usually a big deal (much like a pimple). It's when the infection is deep that it gets scary. @dreamingsmall docs don't put metal staples inside (except onto the actual stomach).. they'll have used absorbable stitches.

Lap Band Revision to the Sleeve

Hi All, I had the lap band back in 2009 and in 3 years I lost 103lbs. At that time I started trying to have a baby and that proved to be very difficult. After many miscarriages I finally had a baby 4 years later (after 2 round of IVF. During my struggles with infertility things seemed off with my band though I was preoccupied with trying to conceive and I didn't really care too much. Due to an ectopic pregnancy I had emergency surgery to have a fallopian tube removed and even that surgeon said that she took at look at my band and it "didn't look right" to her. Now that my baby is a year old I've been thinking about going back to my baratric surgeon. As of right now I've gained half of my weight loss back. I also just got a letter from my surgeon's office stating that greater than 50% of band patients are having revisions due to ineffectiveness of the band, food intolerance, band slipping, and heartburn/erosion. I'm pretty sure I have all of those things. I'm a little nervous about a new surgery but I can't live the way I have been living anymore.

    Free of Sugar Free

I too always had bad headaches with artificial sweeteners. Also learned years ago on the FDA website, that they're linked to causing symptoms of 90+ diseases..always hated putting that kind of thing in my body. Never liked the taste either. Tried stevia once, it's still up in my pantry. Call me an exception though, I don't do artificial. If I want sweet, I use honey or agave and regular creamer for me coffees. Gasps! 😱 Lol

    Calories

Thank you for your concern! But I promise, I'm just fine I eat as much as my sleeve allows - pretty much every two hours. From what I read on these boards, I seem to have a much smaller sleeve than most - which is fine with me! I'm doing great, running half marathons, all my labs are normal, and I don't deny myself a shared slice of cheesecake on date night, haha. It's not so much "caloric restriction" as it is "I eat almost all the time and this is what my sleeve can hold"

    Must-haves for the hospital?

I used nothing that I brought apart from my hairbrush and extension cord for my phone charger. Everything else I just never cared about using or they provided for me, so I just used theirs. I also didn't shower there. Back home in 2 days!

Yup. I had no idea how much I used food to comfort me. I would've told you before surgery that I most definitely didn't do that. It wasn't until I couldn't eat that I realized it. Grazing is a big no no for me. I have to thoughtfully plan my meals and not snack when vegging out. It's a HUGE adjustment but one I want to make and am working hard at changing every single day.

lol, ah... the big newbie hormonal dump rage vs bored vet arguments. The same thing played out over & over every 6 months. A piece of advice, but not for the newbies. Vets, your input is not really wanted. People only want a vet to reaffirm their choices, theories, and advice. I found that the ones that truly want advice are not the ones hoping to make a name, obtain popularity, or gain a reputation on the forum. More often than not, the ones that appear to take advice to heart are the ones that have PM'ed a vet for a private conversation. That allows a conversation without any posturing.
