    Liquid intake

If you can sip down 1 cup of Water in about 20 min without any issues at all, then I would say all is good. Just follow your recommended daily fluid requirements. My surgeon recommended 65-80 ounces per day.

I've always been an emotional eater and as I get myself ready for surgery next week, I'm wondering how the veterans...those who have lost the weight and kept it off for more than a year or two...dealt with stress and other emotions, once you were no longer acting out with food. I've just started seeing a therapist, to work on these issues, but there's nothing like hearing from those who have lived it. What worked/works for you? I'm looking for tools to help me succeed. Thanks!

    Emotional Eating/Coping Mechanisms

Hello I just got sleeved 8/24 and I am also an emotional eater I am still on liquids and find myself wanting and craving food at that point I get an ice pop(sugar free) and just eat it if that doesn't work I go for a walk drink water and it really helps please continue to see the therapist because the surgeon only fixes your stomach not your addiction the struggle can be real

    Thirsty all the time.

Ok, if you've been checked for diabetes, then you probably need more salt. Check to see how much you are getting. Aim for 1500-2500mg. You don't want too much because we have trouble getting enough potassium, and too much salt messes up that balance.

That is because of your liver dumping sugar. It will dump more sugar then you would have eaten sometimes. So it is better to eat then let it dump.

    Fueling for 10k

It went well, but of course nothing went according to plan. I had to be at the starting corrals by 5 and so woke up at 3:30. All I had going into the race was two protein bars. Race went well. It was around 78 degrees with 72% humidity, so the heat was a factor I hadn't prepared for. My energy level was fine through the first four miles but as soon as the sun rose and was hitting me in the face, my energy sapped pretty good. I still managed to finish with a personal best time way under what I had set for my goals. If I had it to do over again, I would stash some fruit in my hotel room the night before so I had a few more carbs that I can digest (post surgery, I don't digest things like pasta very well) that would give me more energy. Also, the water stations are good, but weren't enough for the heat, so I would take either a backpack with water or a water bottle. There's really no way to prep for the factor of weather, so I'll have to think how to approach that in the future. Thanks for the tips!

    Nobody ever responds

That's kind of a tall order for a message board... you need help with a food plan. Did your doctor or nutritionist give you guidelines? There are so many different plans! If you read through some posts or do a search you will find lots of information. It's hard to know where to begin answering a question like that.

I bought some new clothes for some upcoming work and fun trips. I am now in 32 waist slim-fit jeans and size small button-downs. Who would have ever thought this could happen when I started at 400 pounds?!?

On my way to the hospital

I'm doing much better. They finally got my naseoua under control and that made all the difference. I was released last night and was excited to be home But of course now Houston is expecting a hurricane and my well laid out recovery plan has gone out the window. I have to figure out where I'm willing to evacuate to since the roommates who were going to be my caretakers this week are leaving town. Perfect timing! So other than all this drama I'm trying to focus on my liquids and staying hydrated. I dont know what full feels like yet so still not pushing things. Glad to hear you are doing better.

No, I have no requirement for two days of clear diet, but I do need to take a colon clense the day before (Magnesium Citrate) at 3pm and 7pm and only clear liquids after I start that. As far as GNC, I do have one of them local, but I have lost all faith in them when the lady told me all of the Protein powders are mostly the same, it doesn't really matter which one I choose. I have done further google'ing and seem to find that low carb is better than low calorie or low fat diets. But I agree about contacting your surgeon. Mine does not seem to have a preference because it is mainly for the habit for the post-op diet, but I just want to optimize my personal surgery success.
