Surgery was yesterday and I was scheduled a gastric bypass , but because of the scar tissue from my C-section 24 years ago . After my Dr.removed as much scar tissue as possible he was unable to perform the bypass. The sleeve was done and I feel 😊 hopefully I hold the water down so I can get to go home😜😂

    Alcohol for Bariatric Vets

I've never really been a huge drinker, and before surgery it was not uncommon for me to go many months without a drink. I had my surgery Nov., 2015 and am living an entirely different lifestyle in a new country where drinking alcohol is the one common denominator at every social event. Because I suffer from social anxiety, this appeals to me because it calms me down and makes me more outgoing and friendly. That is, if I wasn't drinking I would stay home. My question is how does this effect weight loss and maintaining weight?

    Drinking

I think I was done baby sipping after the first week. At 3 weeks out, I still don't take big gulps. I do drink at a regular pace though, and have no problem finishing a 16oz bottled water in under 5 minutes. I was drinking beverages of all temperatures at about 3 days post op as well. I did not like drinking beverages at room temperature, and found that I drank more when my beverages were cold. Warm water has always made me nauseous anyway.

    HURRICANE HARVEY MUNCHIES

Since we are stuck in the house i feel so snacky... Even though it's only been nuts and some hummus chips, I still feel like I've been eating more..... It may be boredom, it may be nerves because we don't know what the next few days hold AND because our city is suffering tremendously and I feel helpless.... Please Pray for our city and for everyone in it..... Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Fueling for 10k

What is your goal time? Are you talking fuel before or during? For a 10k around an hour, no need to fuel during. As for before, I would get protein in, a good breakfast 2h ahead of time. And if you need it, a banana about 45-30min before the race. For my fastest half marathon to date (pre surgery), I had eggs and bacon for breakfast about 2 h before. During the race I used nuts and water. Time was 2:14. Good luck!

The first few times I tried soft foods, that happened to me too. I'd suck all the juice or flavor out, then spit out the chicken or whatever. Sometimes I still do. Assuming it's normal.

    PRE-OP

I am 2 days pre-surgury and on the 2 week liquid diet. I would say buy as you go. I bought several different flavors of sugar free jell-o, and after the first 3 days (when I was detoxing from sugar) some of them don't taste that great, and some taste even better. That is weird, I know.... I can say that Liptons noodle soup has saved me! I drain out all the noodles, but that broth tastes so much better to me than just plain broth. You guys got this!!!

    Question for >1 year sleevers!

Toasted bread goes down easier. Around a year I could sometimes eat a sandwich. At 7 years I can eat one, but it's still my entire meal. I'd say the sleeve, for me, reached it's full capacity at a year. At around 3-4 years out I was able to tolerate larger portions of pasta and grains, that's the only change. I'm 7 years out. Cheri
