    After pictures

I had gastric bypass Jan 18. My highest weight was 235. My day of surgery I weighed 192. My current weight today is 136. Boy has it been a journey of ups and downs but well worth it. I will however be getting plastics in the near future. I went from a 38 DDD to a b cup full of skin YUCK!

    bad taste in my mouth

I'm 7 weeks and still have it. From all my research it seems to be that our bodies are in ketosis. Low sugar low carb side effect.

    Dehydration?

I would switch to something better than water. Maybe propel or powerade zero? Try a few different things, but I wouldn't wait too long. If I were you I might try electrolytes, but have a preset "if this happens, I must seek treatment now" point. You need to seriously increase asap and see a difference. Maybe you could call urgent care and see if they would treat. I like urgent care because here they bill as a pcp, not an ER. We always get excellent care. But by all means, if you need the ER, do what you have to do. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm able to get my fluid and protein goals with the phenegrine, it's just incredibly unpleasant. My surgeon put me on full fluids when I went home from the hospital originally and it seemed to be going ok but then the hot flashes started yesterday. I've been doing 2 pure protein drinks, around 80oz of water and 4-6 oz of soup spread throughout the day. I probably have 2oz of protein drink or soup every couple of hours then sip water in between. I can't stand the constant sweetness of all the protein drinks but haven't found anything else that has that much protein so I keep defaulting to them. My surgeon said I can have anything that can be pureed to a smooth paste or pourable liquid. I'm scared to try anything past broth, yogurt or protein shakes with all the nausea I'm having though. I think I'll try going back to just water, broth, and tea for a few days. Hopefully it'll help.

For me it was about being as normal as possible. I never had mood swings. One thing that you can do that was a huge help to me was just understanding that life is different in some ways. Sometimes in the beginning, we overthink, and over-complicate things...just be patient. If we were out and about, I would carry a cooler pack that had food and drink options for me in case we were in a position that we were out and I needed to push protein or felt hungry. (They told me I wouldn't feel hunger. I call BS on this, I have felt hunger since 2 weeks out.) Let your partner guide the recovery. Just being supportive may be all it amounts too. I never had a breakdown over food or anything. Just prepare yourself for the life that is going to be coming. In less than a year, I have changed from bump on a log status to go go go go go. It's a wild, amazing ride. Try to enjoy it together,

    No restriction?

The more dense the food, the more you'll feel restriction. Liquids and soft stuff never really triggered mine, but once I was on solids, it definitely kicked in. One bit of advice...weight and measure your food, don't rely on that 'full' feeling or restriction to do portion control for you. Portion your food, sit down with it and eat that portion. Good luck!
