    No restriction?

    The more dense the food, the more you'll feel restriction. Liquids and soft stuff never really triggered mine, but once I was on solids, it definitely kicked in. One bit of advice...weight and measure your food, don't rely on that 'full' feeling or restriction to do portion control for you. Portion your food, sit down with it and eat that portion. Good luck!

    7.5 months post op. I get between 900-1100 calories a day. Just saw my NUT last week, she wants me closer to the 1100 than the 900 and wanted me to up my carbs to about 100 grams a day so I've been working on that.

    If you are referring to insurance, I didn't have either surgery for weight loss so BMI was not even considered. I had some upper GI issues. I have lost weight, but really didn't need to. Had I not had this RNY, it would have been likely that in the future I may have gotten esophageal cancer because my acid was so out of control. Also I had an area on my esophagus that was so thin from acid damage, it would have probably ruptured in the near future, so he had to repair that when he got in there before he did the bypass. My pouch is smaller than normal because of the repair so the restiction is much greater than the sleeve restriction. But everything is going great. Never had any pain or any nausea, and I am on all food now and no issues. No regrets!

    they are, quite simply, wrong. the term "dumping" comes from the fact that insulin is "dumped" into your blood, causing symptoms like shaking/flushing/cramps. the foaming and excess production of saliva and regurgitation of that with food has nothing to do with your insulin levels, it's your body's reaction to having the stomach's stoma blocked.

    I had a VSG 5 1/2 years ago. About three years ago my acid started coming back. VSG does not control acid because you still have a useable stomach. Recently in the past year it was terrible and out Of control. I had an RNY on June 12 because my doctor said in my case that was the only resolve to stop my acid. I was told I had to take my Pepcid twice a day for about sixty days and it would be gone. I had it a a couple times a week for seven weeks. Then it stopped. The doctor told me to stop taking my morning pill to see if it came back. It did not. Now he told me to stop them completely and i have and NO acid! I am so relieved to be rid of the acid once and for all!

    I am 10 weeks out and have experienced dumping syndrome a couple times but only because I knew I ate too fast! Feels kind of like a stuck feeling and can't eat anymore. A lot of thick slimes and then I try to throw up and it comes right out (liquid). Then I feel great! But I never have experienced any pain or nausea since my surgery other than that.

    Except me. Whole food plant based advocate here. 👋🏽 No calorie counting and definitely no low carb-ing, and still losing weight and getting healthier. 😊

    Yeah, stay away from anything that makes you feel that bad. I couldn't hack the taste of protein shakes or powders, so I relied on milk and broth until I could puree tuna. 8 cups of milk and/or broth will get you your protein for the day. (It counts as fluid too, so you don't need much water). It sounds like a lot, but it's only 4 pint jars for all day. Just keep on sipping.
