Six months post-op and 90 pounds lost! I'm so happy with the weight loss, but I still can't help wishing it was 100 pounds instead. I still need to find time to do my measurements and take some photos though - I'm leaving for Hong Kong tomorrow morning, so am pretty busy cleaning and packing before I go.

jess9395, you make me so happy! I've been told to give up coffee for a YEAR, and I think that's going to be the hardest thing to do (I start my pre-op diet tomorrow). But I'll do it for as long as I can, anyway--may add it back in several months if everything else is going well . . . But things like rice, potatoes, white bread--I'm figuring I'm simply not going to be eating those things. I like them fine, but it's more than a fair trade for a normal weight and serious health improvements. There are enough things we can eat that I like--no need to start triggering carb cravings. Good luck!

    Recovering addict wanting GB

Speak to your suboxone prescribing doctor and also to your surgeon. I worked directly with a doctor that prescribed suboxone. This was part of a teaching hospital in a rural area with two main hospitals about 15 minutes apart. The suboxone doctor would coordinate with the surgeon to create a pain management plan after surgery. It was easier to do on patients with lower doses than on higher doses of suboxone (aka more wiggle room). This is by no means what everybody does but I thought it was effective. Another resource to ask would be your outpatient pharmacist or to see if the doctors need to speak to the hospital pharmacist. Good luck!

My surgeon and nut said there is nothing off limits after surgery, once you are back to a full diet. Just remember, everything has consequences that we put in our bodies, some good some bad. Make smart choices in other words, is what it came down to. Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    How can spouse help?

That's so wonderful of him. My husband has been like my errand boy, lol. Before surgery, I showed him pictures and explained what I could eat, so in case he had to run out and get me something, he would know what he is looking for. I also made him a list of all my meds, physician info, allergies, pharmacy, pcp, etc. Seems like the dr, hospital, nurses, all ask the same questions and I wanted him to be able to answer for me if I didn't feel up I also told him about the regret phase, so he would know what was coming, and for him to remind me why I wanted to do this. My husband is awesome. Yours sounds awesome too! Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
