Guess, what? The Losers Bench might get more people on it, but there seems to be more room always.... Think about it....

Thank you, EVERYONE, for such wonderful advice and amazing support! I did manage to make it through the day... I treated myself to an apple instead. I LOVE apples and they have fiber as an added bonus. I have now stocked my drawer with tasty protein bars (Luna) for back-up sweet-tooth attacks and roasted seaweed snacks (gimme) for salty/crunchy cravings. You are all beautiful, strong, amazing people and I feel honored and lucky to have your help and advice! Thank you so very much!!!

    Worried??

Weight loss is not the same for everyone, it is as individual as we are. The best thing you can do is follow your providers plan and don`t stress about the weight. it will come off when it comes off

    A first hello and questions.

Hi! Good for you to start this journey!! I didn't tell many people, because I didn't want people to be negative. I told one of my best friends from childhood, and she told me how her aunt had a lap band years ago and it didn't work... Blah...blah...blah. My mother in law was supportive but just had questions. I didn't even tell my husband until I had the appointment with the surgeon, after all my research and my online class. I have to say, people think WLS is drastic. Well, when I was 30, I had a preventive bilateral mastectomy because I found out I had the breast cancer mutation after my 32 year old sister was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. People thought that was drastic. It saved my life. 4 years later, I had my ovaries removed, again, to prevent cancer. I did all those surgeries to make myself healthy and try to keep cancer away from my body, but I was obese. I went from overweight to obese to "morbidly" obese. I knew my weight could cause so many problems. Cancer, stroke, heart attack, etc. I had to do this for me. For my kids who I want to see grow up. I was tired of being tired. I was tired of eating a whole row of Oreos, knowing it was bad for me, thinking how I am clogging my arteries but unable to stop. I don't crave that stuff anymore. As for taste, mine hasn't changed. Bariatric Eating has good shakes, Inspire. They are thin and mix pretty well. I had been using premier protien and they are good but I'm just tired of them and they seem so thick to me now. Dont let others people's views get you down. You are brave and amazing for taking this step. It's a tool. Not a fix. You have to embrace the journey. Good luck.

I'm six week post-op and have taken weekend trips. At six weeks, I don't have restrictions on types of food - I can eat out without any issues - just have to pick the restaurants. Diners and steak houses are easy - italian is hard but I can find a protein option. You will be fine. Enjoy your trip.

I don't know about your preference but I also hate the tracking apps! I'm in my lower 20's but I still hate wasting the time to try and figure it out ever time. So I have a small 5x7 food log that I keep in my bag everywhere I go. It has a section for food, water, and exercise so it's super easy to quickly write down how much and what I ate/drank. I got it from Michael's on sale, I believe it's by create365. (They also have stuff on amazon!) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Surgery day?

Try to take some deep breathes and relax! You must believe and trust everything will be great ❤️ I did the same thing and then I realized I must relax and let go of the fear 👍👍 You will be just fine and all will go great! The only thing I hated about waking up after surgery was how tired I was. Seriously no pain at all. Just tiirreeddd. You will be out of it before the surgery starts. You won't even care about what's about to happen. I promise you will be so loopy and then fall asleep 👍👍 as long as you trust your surgeon you have absolutely nothing to worry about! I hope this helps! And best of luck to you

Definitely keep healthy options at your desk. I recommend not running from the doughnuts at first, but take a moment or two to work through it. Here is something I posted in another, similar thread today:

You should be find for travel and for eating in restaurants. I chose not to eat in restaurants at 6 weeks but you can do it if you want. If you are traveling in the US, I would get protein shakes and keep them handy. You can offset your calories eating out by using protein shakes.
