    1st post op visit

Hey my July peeps! I had my 2 week post op visit today. I was sleeved on July 21. My starting weight in Jan was 274, surgery weight 263 and today,,,,,,,,,, (drum roll) 253!!!!! Its 10 lbs in 10 days, yeah i will take that. Gosh i cant stop smiling!! 21lbs gone. Thank you Jesus. Woo woo i am so excited!!!! I have no problems eating or drinking water and protein requirements are at 30 for this week. My Doc goes slowly upward to a total only of 45. I have been drinking at least 60oz of water a day. I was always a water drinker only. I feel good except for pain that I am having because I had a lot of scar tissue due to my previous surgeries. He even had to do 6 insicions instead of three. But i am walking and all my incisions are healed. I will be in my pool tomorrow starting slow. I have lymphedema in my legs and the pool helps with the swelling. Another wonderful thing is that i am off all diabetic meds !!!!!!!!! Oh yeah!! Can you tell i am busting???? (Seinfeld: George: I am busting Jerry, busting!!!!) God Bless my woderful surgeon and his team. It does feel as great as everyone says. Hang in there July peeps.....we gonna do great!!!!!

I'm six week post-op and have taken weekend trips. At six weeks, I don't have restrictions on types of food - I can eat out without any issues - just have to pick the restaurants. Diners and steak houses are easy - italian is hard but I can find a protein option. You will be fine. Enjoy your trip.

    Clear liquids

Mine is Tuesday, Aug 1 also. I started mine on Thursday. Had an awful headache all day. Not use to a lot of sweats and although they don't taste bad, 3 Premier Protein shakes a day was too much, Broth was good. I used home-canned turkey-vegetable broth. You can flavor up plain broth with spices. Since I am only required to do liquid only on Monday, chicken breast just to eat I received my genepro 2 I ordered and tried with my broth. For me, it worked just as claimed (maybe a slight tinge of smell) but it did dissolve completely in broth when prepared as directed first. Made the liquid diet easy now. I've done fine with not eating. Knowing this is just temporary and I will eat again is not a problem. I cook for my family and no temptation. Just have to remember NOT to taste out of habit. I did have an hour last night when I suddenly became extremely nervous and questioning if I was doing the right thing, but I got on here and read and calmed myself. I'm excited and scared(a little) but, it this is for my health. Praying for no complications because I am a self-pay with no coverage for complications.

This is something to discuss at length with your medical team. My guess is you are going to need to be out for 4 weeks minimum given the physical demands of your job. Particularly if you have lifting that you need to do. Most sleeve patients are restricted to 10 pounds lifting for 4 weeks. For those of us that are desk jockeys, it's not an issue. Best of luck.

As far as my eating I eat chicken, shrimp, protein shakes and such. I am at very low carbs probably 20-30 daily. I haven't had pasta or rice since surgery. It sucks but it's worth it. Sent from my SM-G935U using BariatricPal mobile app

When I go to the gym I get my cardio in first so that it's done and out of the way. I start with the elliptical or treadmill on incline. I do at least 1-1.5 miles on one of those. Then I move to weights for a little bit alternating arms and legs on different days. After 15-20 mins of the heart rate slowing down some I step it up with some dumbbells doing overhead press with squats at a decent pace. I try to keep my heart rate up when doing those and I alternate squats, lunges and curtseys at a moderate pace. Sent from my SM-G935U using BariatricPal mobile app

You should be find for travel and for eating in restaurants. I chose not to eat in restaurants at 6 weeks but you can do it if you want. If you are traveling in the US, I would get protein shakes and keep them handy. You can offset your calories eating out by using protein shakes.

    Incision

I felt the same thing. Couldn't lay on my side for awhile it felt like it was pulling inside. Then one day I folded half a bakery of laundry that was on the floor in front of me on the couch. The use of muscles from bending over, I was sore for about 2 weeks after, so be mindful of what you're doing. After that I'd sit on the side of my bed with the laundry basket next you me.
