I guess when you are overweight you are kind of invisible, so now everyone is always commenting in person or in pictures on social media about how much weight I've lost, or how good I look. Just not used to it I suppose. The doctor did warn me, but it's kind of shocking.

    Dry cough

After surgery, I remember coughing sometimes. Not really the coughing but the pain associated with the coughing. After a few weeks this was no longer a problem. As Myaiku said, make sure you regularly use your spirometer. Some patients have a tube placed down their throat during the operation. Here is a link to an article that describes the condition and relief from it. https://www.verywell.com/why-does-my-throat-hurt-after-surgery-3157316

My weight loss has been officially noticed by the women I work with (from about 2 months post-op) and by my students, but not really from anyone else. Some of my students from 3-4 years back often don't recognise me at first, and do a double-take when they realise it's me. It is heartwarming to hear my students call me "slim" now, even though I'm not, as I'm still obese, and even if and when I get to a normal BMI I will still be considered big by Japanese standards (as I was when I first came here many years ago). The men I know haven't said anything to me unless I bring it up first.

It got embarrassing for a while, now three years out this has become the new norm. I miss the attention now, sometimes[emoji4]

    Can you eat watermelon

I literally have meals of watermelon and cherries. Watermelon has lots of nutrition! Including over 30% of your DV of vitamin A and C. And the sugar is very low impact because there's 93% water in it (hence the name).

    Lonely

I read the forums and comment when I feel like it- reading others posts and connecting with them will build your relationships on the site. I cruise the forums when I'm bored or want to eat something. I've made some friends that ways I have only told a few people about my surgery so here is where I connect with people who understand what I'm going through or who can help celebrate the little accomplishments. So - that said, welcome! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135

    Lonely

Lol wish I knew. I was a hot mess the week before surgery. I spent a lot of time on here! It was wasted energy though because everything turned out great and yours should too. [emoji173]

    Vitamins

You can see more info on them at the BariatricPal store or PatchMD.com They're basically a 1-inch square patch that you wear for 8 hours a day, and it's absorbed directly into your bloodstream instead of going through your digestive track. You absorb more of the vitamins as well. I've had 2 rounds of blood work done since wearing them (getting another done tomorrow, actually) and have had no issues.
