    DS SIPS approved

My DS surgery was finally approved by insurance and is scheduled for 8/24/2017. Anyone have any feedback on when they felt good enough to return to work following the DS?

I like so many of you will be starting on the road of a healthier me- my sleeve surgery is set for 28-Jul. I've begun the "fun" process of withdrawing from all the bad things that I ate and drink to make myself feel better. Now the hard work begins. Although I am so excited to make these long over due changes, I find my excitement is turning to nervousness (aka W T F am I doing...) but my course remains unchanged - steam rolling on to the new and healthier me. As I am getting ready (both physically and mentally) - I was hoping I could lean on this group for their experience. Was there anything you weren't prepared for the first few weeks after surgery and knowing what you know now - would you do anything differently? How long did it take for you to feel "normal" again? Any thoughts would be so appreciated -Allison

    Paleo Anyone?

I like the idea of Paleo, but have some issues with how some people perceive the diet. For example, cavemen didn't drink milk, but once people started keeping cows, some gradually evolved the ability to continue making lactase into adulthood.. and when food was scarce, those that could subsist on milk didn't starve, so they continued on to pass on those genes. I am a fortunate recipient of those genes, so since I can digest milk, why wouldn't I drink it? Trust me, if cavemen COULD drink milk.. they would have too! Lol. Cavemen had access to a wider variety of foods than we have today. Modern agriculture has narrowed our foodstuffs so far, that we now primarily subsist off of maybe 100 items (and only about 10- 20 of them make up the bulk of our diets).. that the idea of narrowing what we eat even further.. seems like a really bad idea. Having said that, processed, chemical laden foods have no place at my table either. I'll do Paleo+ (I also want my legumes, potatoes, and dairy).

    7 months out!

I had my sleeve done on Oct 18, 2017. BEST DECISION EVER. I am almost a new person. The things I can do now that I couldnt before such as drive without the steering wheel on my stomach, tie my shoes without being out of breath, walk up stairs without hurting, play with my son. These are just a few things I can do now. So far I have lost a total of 110lbs! The only loose skin I have is my arms but it's always been like this. Working out to tone them up as much as possible!!! Guys what's your story.

    9 weeks out

It took me 4 months to lose 40 pounds, yet I'm not griping. Your weight loss journey is a marathon, not a sprint. Slow and steady wins the race, while fast and crass won't last. The final result is more important than the speed at which we lose the weight. I've lost 100 pounds, attained my goal weight, and have managed to keep the weight off. That's what's important. Good luck to you.

    Didn't tell my sister

Congratulations on your weight loss! Unfortunately, just because people are family does not mean they will be happy for you or be willing to understand what you are going through. I hope you have better support outside of your sister, as she is in no position worry about anyone's health but her own. You look fantastic, btw!!

    Didn't tell my sister

@kheter55 I read my sister all over your post. She's 40. I actually don't even know where she's at. But anyway, I didn't tell her either in the beginning. I did at one point and nothing really good came out of her mouth. She's bipolar too, etc...a lot of mental problems. The only thing that I can encourage you about is...move on, and to move on is to forgive your sister for the things she's said. You can do this inside; doesn't mean you have to tell her this--most likely she wouldn't take it right anyway. This will allow you to have peace. She's your sister...love her but it doesn't mean you have to talk/share with her. Just don't hold the grudge; it'll help you in the long run. Blessings to you hon.
