    2 months & 11 days post op

55.4lbs gone! Started at 250lbs & 5'8 I'm down to 194.6. Would like to hit 170 and then decide from there if I'd like to go any farther. Couldn't be happier though! All of the stalls are so worth it.

I noticed something this morning, I haven't been checking my blood sugar as often as I usually do. It has been my habit for the past 3.5 years to check it as soon as I get up and 2 hours after eating either lunch or dinner. I am falling out of the habit because every time I check, it is awesome. I checked my meter just now and my 30 day average is 88 with N=37. In the past N would have been at least 60, but usually closer to 70. I guess I am getting more confident in the realization that I really don't need to take any medications to have a stable, great, and completely normal non-diabetic blood sugar reading. I ran my longest distance this morning 2.5 miles. My pace is still really slow because I am running for 5 minutes and walking for 1.5 minutes, rinse and repeat. I am ahead of schedule with the C25K. When the program tells me my workout is complete to begin cool down, I run another segment of run/walk. I just don't feel ready to stop and want to increase my mileage. I am amazed at how energetic I feel on the days I run as opposed to my rest days. Yesterday I was a sloth all day. Saturday is my Sabbath day so I observe the day of rest completely. The only thing I did yesterday was go to church, post here, and read. I felt sluggish all day. I have decided I need to watch less TV. It just encourages me to be lazy. I am going to limit my time in front of the TV to 1 hour every other day. I want to be more productive in other areas of my life and this is one way to do it. Have a great Sunday everyone!

    Can't get protein in, HELP!

Some protein bars could agree with you.... also baked tofu. It is much different from white, jiggly containers. Teriyaki is very good. And super firm and dryer. Even some supermarkets ( and health food store) carry it. Fainting is not good. Keep trying other sources of protein : beans. Quinoa etc and ask a nutritionist. Best to you

    vitamins?

I read a study on the vitamin patches that Unjury's scientists did that said that the vitamins they claim to deliver were not what tbe vitamin patches were capable of delivering.

    Newbi

I'm scheduled for 8/12 with Dr. Illan and paid the $500 down through my Wells Fargo account. I'll do the same with the remainder the week before surgery. My wife was initially worried about going to Mexico for surgery, but knows now these are highly skilled people and this is what they do day in and day out. Good luck!

    Struggling day to day

I have to agree with @Pam_2-06-2017. You have to find the strength and perseverance within yourself to do what you need to do to reach your goals. It's as simple as that. My partner lost 115 pounds from February 2016 until December 2016. That time period was my six month pre-op diet program and three months of post-op life. He got to his goal of 200 pounds (he's 6'1"). At that time (end of December 2016), I weighed about 250ish, and still had a ways to go to get to my goal. Since then, he has eaten what he wants (and gained some weight back, too). Crap is in the house all of the time. He wants fast food, so we go through a drive-thru. You know what? I buy it at the store for him. I hand him the credit card in the drive-thru line. I hold the ice-cream cone while he gets situated in the car. But I don't eat any of it, because I know that isn't what I am supposed to do. The mental part of this game (whether it is pre-op, immediately post-op, or 2 years out) is the hardest part, and where the war is won. I wish you the best as you continue. I'd recommend working with a psychologist and/or a nutritionist to help you get re-started. Having an experienced person to talk to often really helps.

waiting for my approval from BCBS

I have AZ BCBS and I went to my last MSW visit on 2/14, called the surgeon on 2/17 to make sure she had my paperwork and we could get the insurance approval process moving. We scheduled me for 3/15 and received my insurance approval the same day as my pre op appointment on 3/6. I feel as though I got lucky with my approval process, I hope others have the same luck!!!
