    NSV Victory - Bloodwork

Just had follow up blood work done, specifically to test for Vitamin D and A1C levels - pre surgery my Vitamin D was at 10, now at 29 (recommended is 30+). My A1C was at 7%, now at 5.8% (7 is diabetic and 5.8 is pre-diabetic). Feels so great to moving myself outside of the dangers that come with diabetes! Fortunately all my other numbers were good. And, I have just donated 10 bags of professional clothing that no longer fits me and my closets are empty. I want to thank the posters of these Forums - I don't fear the stalls (had a week 5 one, others to come no doubt), I am tracking everything, relate to the # on the scale as a tool to assess what's working and what's not working and feel great. I am proud to have lost 30% of my excess weight and can't believe what has gotten accomplished in the past two months!!!!! Life is a privilege!

7/8 - Extremely healthy keto day. 7/9 - Halo Top 1/2 Cup Chocolate Mocha Chip (I am in heaven!!). Healthy keto day. Weighed in at 208.4 lbs. Gained 1.4 lbs 7/10 - Hung out at Coney Island with my Mom, little Brother and my dog Buddy aka Rasta Scoobs. At Nathans Philly Chicken with no bun. The guy gave me the nasty look when I ordered it. (It was like really, you are going to come here and want to eat healthy at Nathans?). With a nasty tone, he says, "It's going to be the same price and the same amount of meat." So in an even nastier tone, I said, "Did I ask about the amount of meat or the price? No. I asked for a Philly Chicken with No Bun. Thank you." He just placed my order and my brother says, "Don't be surprise if you find some special sauce or a hair floating around in it lol." 7/11 - Keto Day. Decided to step on the scale and weighed 205.4 lbs. I was like WTF!!! What is going on? At this point my weight is fluctuating up and down. I think I maybe starting stall soon and my body is warning me. It could also be water weight. 7/12 - Another Keto Day. Went out to eat with my mom and brother and I was upset because I could have the Tacos of Bell. My mom keeps saying, "Oh you have your meal prep and you have been doing so good on your diet. Taco Bell is not good for you." I was like then why are you eating it. She says, "I'm grown and your mama. Do as I say and not as I do." She is right but sooo annoying sometimes. 7/13 - My day was healthy. Received two new Hidrate Spark bottles. Gave one to my mom and brother. They are in love and I set them up on their phones. Breakfast: 2 egg whites boiled with salt. Snack: 2 pickle slices Lunch 1 - 2 : 2.1 oz of turkey with a tomatoes, a little cheese, romaine lettuce and my special dressing. (Broken up into 2 meals) Snack: 21 olives. Dinner 1 - 2: 4 oz of ground beef, a little cheese, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and salsa. (Broken up into 2 meals)

    Packing for hospital??

Lip balm! Last time I used this much lip balm was when I was a smoker. All the protein drinks and FF dairy products dry my lips out. I had significant GERD post-op ( I suffered from it pre-op) so I wasn't drinking much day of surgery. Lips were very dry, lip balm was very much needed. I didn't touch my phone til next day, though my family was updating everyone and keeping things simple for me. HW 370, SW 350, SD 6/20/17

The more you lose the less fat is in the skin and it gets easier.

Hi everyone! I'm checking in, as this is day 5 still in the hospital. My swallow test/x-ray showed a complication, so I went back the OR yesterday for another upper endoscope. The result showed a stitch was causing a small kink in my sleeve. After this fix, I have turned the corner for recovery! I'm now able to keep clear liquids down, which is magical!! Shout out to my bariatric team, they are truly amazing! I'm probably going home today!!!![emoji258][emoji170] Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    The Stall...

Well, I had an absolute DOH! moment today. My scales were stuck at the same weight for a solid week, right down to the ounce. My BF weighed himself this morning and weighed exactly the same as I did. That couldn't happen, he's probably 10 pounds more than me (he's much taller). We took the batteries out, replaced them, reset the scales and voila!!! I was 2 pounds lighter!!! (He was 8 pounds heavier!) These crappy scales have had me depressed for a week! Make sure to check the batteries in your digital scales, folks! It matters! (This commercial message was brought to you by Diane, your BariatricPal dumbass!! LOL)

My advice is to stay off the scale for the first month post-op. Your body will be going through all kinds of changes and thus the first month is very hard to make any claims one way or the other regarding weight loss.

    Substance abuse

If you are really concerned about it I would encourage you to enter detox and then a substance abuse program. Your mind will tell you you can use more but your body is NOT the same. Please go to detox and follow up with treatment! If you drink or use a lot you MUST be medically monitored when you stop. Withdrawal from alcohol can be fatal. If you aren't sure about treatment go to Alcoholics Anonymous. It sounds like you have multiple addictions and now that food isn't an option your drug and alcohol use tends to escalate. Please seek treatment!!!
