I was on this forum quite a while ago asking for help with insurance issues, etc. For 3 years, my insurance denied me, even though I appealed with a ton of paperwork from several doctors and made numerous phone calls, wrote letters and on and on. My place of employment finally switched to a different insurance company in 2017 and I had my first visit with the surgeon the beginning of February. I had already been to other doctors, been to nutritionists, taken weight loss meds, and done so many programs, so I had already met many of the pre-requisites. After jumping through some more hoops, having some tests done, seeing another nutritionist, I was finally approved for surgery and it is now set for July 25th! I am so very happy to start my journey, my only regret is that it took so long to get here. But, I'm here now and wanted to share my good news! I'm a little nervous about it as I've not had many surgeries in my life, but I know Ill get through this and my life is going to change for the better in so many ways!

    Loose Skin

I have been reading about the hair and skin benefits of collagen in bone broth. Has anyone tried this to help with loose skin?

    Advice...

I have already talked to the nutritionist and she went over my food diary and said I was doing very good. My calories are set at 1500/ day Carbs are 173g/day Protein is set at 96g/day. I drink well over 8 cups a day of water. I have already talked to my surgical team about not losing weight but all they tell me is I need to lose something to show the insurance company I'm capable of losing.

    Something is Wrong

I'm sorry you've had so much trouble. I'm only three months out and my bathroom habits changed a lot after surgery. I went from daily to every four days. I started taking magnesium supplements recently, and now I'm every three days, so it's getting better. I'm losing again, too. You might want to try that along with the stool softeners. Hope you feel better soon.

    Sleeping after surgery

Sometimes it helps to use a body pillow. I was able to sleep on my side about day 3 post-op using a pillow.

    Is this normal?

I'll tell you how: it's water weight. Physiologically, it's impossible to gain five pounds of fat tissue in less than 24 hours unless you overate 17,500 calories. I assume you're a female of childbearing age. We're very prone to wild fluctuations in water weight; hence, I only weighed myself once monthly about a week after the 1st day of my period. Weighing myself more often was a blow to my sanity, so I didn't do it.

I need inspiration surgery 5/2-17 vsg

I am taking the diet mentality out of my life. I see the way I eat now as my new normal. Is it different then how I used to eat? Yes and that is a good thing, it is a lifestyle change. I understand what you meant though. We will always need to be mindful and vigilant about what and how much we are eating. I like you, will occasionally take a bite here and there of some of the foods I have decided not to eat. I think this is just healthy living and not a diet. To the op. It might be helpful for you to make a list of all the reasons you decided to have this surgery and look at them when you are feeling regret. Make a new list of the things you would like to do as you loose weight and check them off as you achieve them. I am a firm believer in having a positive attitude. Try to focus on what you are gaining and not what you have lost or perceive that you have lost.
