I have mentioned how hard sipping is, my crazy nausea and the fact that just looking at birth and my protein makes me gag, I think it's all mental being that I did a 3 week liquid diet, towards the end of my diet I was already feeling anxious about these foods. My doctor thinks it's totally normal that I feel this way, well yesterday I fainted and my mom thought it was because I haven't been eating or having much protein. Later on in the day she made me 1 scrambled egg, which I ate (chewed very well) only ate about half or a little more (1.50z) and it did not make me feel bad AT ALL.. I was expecting to feel sick being that I should be starting my puréed today and the scrambled egg is considered a soft food. How many of you have tried soft foods before directed and did not feel sick? I'm not planning on introducing the soft foods for another week as my plan states... merely because I'm scared to eat anything.... gosh, I'm even scared when sipping water [emoji46][emoji19].

Not sure if I messed up or did right

Eggs were considered purée for me. I did have a soft white fish before I was supposed to and it was fine.

    Nervous about going under!

I'm 4 days post op and this was my first surgery. My biggest fear was not waking up from the anesthesia but I had decided it was a necessary risk in order to get my weight and health under control. You're definitely better off having surgery at a younger age while still healthy as opposed to having a heart attack or something else down the road. After having the procedure done, I can look back and realize I was worrying much more than I should have. All of the pre-op testing and analysis that goes on before they will even put you under goes to show that you probably won't be recommended for surgery if you are a risk. Thousands of people go under anesthesia every day and the doctors really do know what they are doing. They are in complete control of your body while you are under since you have a breathing tube and they are monitoring and controlling blood pressure, oxygen, etc. The worst part of it for me was a headache and sore throat for a day or two. The biggest thing I wasn't prepared for was the pain, nausea, and inability to eat/drink for a few days due to the sleeve. It has gotten better every day though and the lbs are coming off so I'm still glad I went through with it. Be sure your mentally prepared for the journey, its not easy at first, but It may be one of the best decisions of your life! Best of luck! One Week Ago Today & So far So Good

Hey everyone I just wanted to share that I had the gastric bypass one week ago today and so far so good! I think the preop diet really helped me to prepare for this. The surgery went very well and I didn't need much pain meds in the hospital. I made myself get up and walk and was released the next morning. I had bloating and gas as expected but not too bad. I really want to thank the Methodist Hospital Bariatric Program (Sacramento, CA) and my surgeon Ruby Gatschet for such a smooth process. I referred to my postop eating booklet once I got home and have lost 4lbs so far. I am looking forward to progressing in the booklet and changing my life to better my health.

Have you asked your Dr about the Stretta procedure? I'm told it was originated for sleevers with chronic GERD. I'm actually going back to my doctor for and endoscopy to see if i'm a candidate. My Dr suspects I have a hiatal hernia. This GERD is kicking my ass. I'm 3 years out.

I swim as a workout! I do 3km a week of laps. I'm two months out and lose an average of 3lb a week (with a surgery day BMI of 36). Swimming is great for me because it's very calming, it doesn't cause my body pain and I could do it at any weight, I don't feel like a sweaty overheated mess, and I'm able to measure my successes/growth. the best workout post surgery is the one you can enjoy and stick with. ANY form of exercise is going to be incredibly beneficial to your progress, overall health and quality of life, and your ability to maintain weight loss.

I am about 5 months out now from surgery and I stick around the forums (even the pre-op one) specifically so I can continue to help out the newbies. I personally felt a bit lost leading up to my surgery and immediately post-op and found these forums a blessing. The support groups at my hospital tend to be more focused on long term/veteran issues which is to be expected - and generally they downplay newbie questions because they are exactly as you find, repetitive and not surprising Coming here was a breath of fresh air because no matter how many times the same question is asked people still get kind responses. I want to be part of that support - and I'm doing the same thing within my program/hospital as much as possible. It's been kind of fun to transition from needing the support to giving the support (though I'm sure I'll still need help - I'm nowhere close to the end of my journey!!!)
