Hi, I'm 10 days post op and doing great. Day of surgery weighed 319 now I'm 289. Hard to believe but 30 lbs in 10 days. Most of it was water weight. My legs and feet were always swollen. Now I can see my ankle bones and calves are smaller. Also the first week it's hard to get much down. My dr had me on clear diet for 2 days and I couldn't stand broth so I lived on jello, apple juice, protein waters. And lots of water. The 3rd day I could have protein shakes, sf chocolate pudding, and Greek yogurt. I still only eat about 3 bites. Or can only get a half of the shake down but I drink lots of water. I'm getting about 400 or less calories. Oikos triple zero Greek yogurt is my go to for meals at this point. I have sf popcicles and organic tomato juice with seasalt found at publix it's a nice change from all the sweet stuff. Publix also has a protein milk called Rockin refuel that has 30 grams protein taste just like real chocolate milk and it's lactose free. I love it. The first 5 days were hard for me nausea was really bad. And smells really bothered me. It's gotten better. The pain was not near as bad as I imagined. Protein, water, and walking is the key. Also as soon as you fill full stop. Even if I have 2 bites and feel full I quit. I hate to vomit and haven't so far. Listen to your body and you will do great. It's hard and you will have days better than others. I literally just walk it off. That helps. Good luck to you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Sleeping after surgery

Sometimes it helps to use a body pillow. I was able to sleep on my side about day 3 post-op using a pillow.

It took me 4 months and I paid cash. It wasn't until I threatened to go somewhere else they got me scheduled. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Who does races?

Tough Mudder and Spartans are a lot of fun but way harder than racing in my humble opinion! Toughest thing I ever did, but totally worth it!

    6 Month Supervised Diet Update

I need a space to be real and accountable so here goes. Started 6month SD on 6/10/17 and really struggled for the first 10 days. The struggle was due to these factors: 1. failure to plan 2. wanting to eat crap more than wanting to lose this weight and get healthy 3. too many "last meals". So I had a come to Jesus moment and watched many more videos of others who have gone before me. I researched and planned a true low carb high protein meal plan and I went shopping to get food that is compliant and I made a video blog for my own personal use to hash it all out with myself. One thing that quitting smoking many years ago taught me is that this game is not in my stomach, it is in my head. Not to discount the very real fact that my stomach and other factors are heavies in this battle, but the real bad guy here is this voice in hy head that really thinks one more McDouble is a necessary thing because I may never eat one again. REALLY, that crap is so nasty but yet here I am like a ball and chain. So Ten days ago , I got on track. The last ten days have not been without hic-cups, for example, I now realize that carbs are not the enemy, but children's birthday parties and specifically PIZZA are the enemies. I went in with a plan and still ate pizza.. ugh. I have to realize that little things like this will still happen and while they are not to be blown off, I am not going to beat myself up over it. I WILL however look at all those caalories and assess, was bowling alley pizza really WORTH it. No. So I started 10 days ago at 268 and this morning I weighed in at 259.6. A baby loss and like any baby I need to takecare of it and help it grow, hence this thread. Thanks for reading.

    Six months on

Hw- 229 Surgery- 220 Current weight 148 Clothes have gone from a uk 20 to a uk 10/12 And the hard work? That's the stuff I've done in therapy. Food was a self destruct button: the work is in fixing what made me push it and of course, in not seeking other even more dangerous buttons. I love new me and I've forgiven and love old me - but she ain't coming back!

No, it is not too late for you. After all, you'll be sleeved for life, foverer and ever. It's not as if your banana-shaped sleeve disappears into thin air after one year. Here's the caveat...you are the only one who can conjure up the intrinsic motivation to get back on track and stay there. Here's another reality: whatever method you utilize to get back on track will need to be the method you use to stay on track. An obesity physician once spoke wise words: "If you didn't like what you did in order to lose the weight, you won't like what you need to do to maintain the weight loss." In other words, the habits you adopt while losing weight are some of the same ones you'll need to adhere to if you want to maintain the weight loss for life.
