    6 Month Supervised Diet Update

I need a space to be real and accountable so here goes. Started 6month SD on 6/10/17 and really struggled for the first 10 days. The struggle was due to these factors: 1. failure to plan 2. wanting to eat crap more than wanting to lose this weight and get healthy 3. too many "last meals". So I had a come to Jesus moment and watched many more videos of others who have gone before me. I researched and planned a true low carb high protein meal plan and I went shopping to get food that is compliant and I made a video blog for my own personal use to hash it all out with myself. One thing that quitting smoking many years ago taught me is that this game is not in my stomach, it is in my head. Not to discount the very real fact that my stomach and other factors are heavies in this battle, but the real bad guy here is this voice in hy head that really thinks one more McDouble is a necessary thing because I may never eat one again. REALLY, that crap is so nasty but yet here I am like a ball and chain. So Ten days ago , I got on track. The last ten days have not been without hic-cups, for example, I now realize that carbs are not the enemy, but children's birthday parties and specifically PIZZA are the enemies. I went in with a plan and still ate pizza.. ugh. I have to realize that little things like this will still happen and while they are not to be blown off, I am not going to beat myself up over it. I WILL however look at all those caalories and assess, was bowling alley pizza really WORTH it. No. So I started 10 days ago at 268 and this morning I weighed in at 259.6. A baby loss and like any baby I need to takecare of it and help it grow, hence this thread. Thanks for reading.

    Well, here we go!

Hey guys! My name is Robert, today I just saw Dr. Jawad at ORMC, in Orlando, Florida. At today's appointment, we discussed three possible procedures. I currently weigh 430 pounds, and he decided that the best operation for me, would be a duodenal switch! I'm super nervous about the operation, but I can see nothing but the results, and amazing responses about the operation! I absolutely love this community that I have found, do you guys have been absolutely amazing with your support! Any tips or feedback about the surgery that you can give me I would love to have! Thank you so much!

I hope you feel better soon. It's no fun feeling that way.

Well your physician can give stats on risks, my cardio dr said less than 1% chance of dying based on my health. I have a much greater chance of deteriorating health if I stay fat!!!! Is she overweight herself? Anyone else in the family die younger from obesity related health issues? If so, use them as reasons why you need surgery, prevent being sicker now so you can enjoy a long life with your kids. It is not more 'pure' to diet it off.

For me, it feels like reflux (GERD). like I want to "regurgitate" my food (not vomit, regurgitate, like going to burp up food rather than have strong stomach contractions and vomit). Eating until you're full means eating too much.. it's a sign that one should intake less. Unfortunately with different stomach sizes, bougie size, food type, metabolisms, etc. there's no way to know in general how much is too much, it's something you learn along the way.

    What are your go-to foods?

I'm more into fresh vegetables the further I get out from surgery. This summer, my go-to meals have consisted of yellow squash casserole, zucchini ranch meatloaf, and spinach casserole, all made from scratch. Never before have I eaten so many vegetables in my lifetime.

    Update: week 1 since surgery

Hii yes, my father came around. We don't really speak about it but he's helped me out by going shopping for me when I needed something. I think it's best to not bring it up though.

Yup. I had a day like that around the three week mark too. It gets so much better when you move to soft foods. You'll feel better. But I know NOW would be good. Some days just suck but the better days are definitely coming!

    What are your go-to foods?

I wrap sliced deli chicken around a stick of cheese (string or sharp cheddar). It's filling and gives me decent protein. Sometimes I'll use Boursin cheese and a dill pickle spear in place of the stick cheese. Any deli meat would work.

    How do you know?

I think the "feeling of fullness" varies from one person to another but until I got into solid foods I didn't really get "that feeling". I do now though and it's literally a tightness telling me that one more bite should not enter. I've also found that I get the hiccups if I go over by a bite or two. Not pleasant.
