    Skinny Bucket List

Food isn't your best friend. It wasn't mine either. I love your list. You know that last one? "Love myself"? That's one you can start on right now. I remember looking in the mirror & hating my reflection. And that energy did nothing but make me feel worse. Don't beat yourself up. Please understand that food isn't your best friend - you are.

Weigh yourself every day. Track all of your food. If you do these things, you don't have to guess why you are gaining. 5 pounds could be water weight. Without any information and summer heat, I would say water weight before a real weight gain. Are you are goal and gaining from a maintenance weight or are you still trying to lose?

I don't want to frighten you, but I had severe nausea and violent wretching from the moment I woke up from surgery. I had a scopalamine patch, compazine IV, zofran IV, tigan injections, and I was inhaling alcohol prep pads that were held up to my nose - believe it or not, they actually helped some. I was taking all of my nausea medications as soon as they were available and the nurses did an outstanding job of watching over me and reminding me as soon as I could take my next med. I couldn't eat or drink at all my first night. Compazine and tigan helped me the most. The good news is that as the days passed it gradually got better. When I was discharged, I had some lingering nausea when I woke up in the morning that I took zofran for. I'm a little over 2 weeks out now and don't need nausea meds at all. My experience is really an outlier here. Most of the stories I've read here have been very mild, but everyone reacts to surgery and anesthesia differently.

    Not coping

You are not alone! I just hit 3 weeks post op. My first two weeks were hell. I had a horrible time taking fluids and I constantly felt sick. Every day gets better! I came on this site often and it helps so much. Everyone is so kind and reassuring. It got me through some hard times, now I'm feeling good and down 17 lbs since surgery , good luck! 😊

    Pre op weight loss tips?

What are you drinking? I recommend you cut out all carbonated beverages, especially soda, no fruit juices, limited coffee (unless black), and no alcohol. I would also stop the cuties or any other fruit. Eat protein first then non-starchy veggies, and plenty of water.

this is a GREAT idea! I found it really helped me too. sometimes we get hung up on the things surgery forces us to "give up" (I almost didn't have my surgery because I thought I couldn't give up diet pepsi!)... but it's true we have so much to GAIN!!! yes I can likely never have pepsi again... but without this surgery, I'd have never worn a size 12 pair of shorts again, or played soccer again... or or or. keep this list handy! tape it to your mirror, put it on your fridge... it will help you get through the harder days.

Thanks Everyone! I remember thinking what the heck have I done right after surgery. When my hair started falling out, I wondered if I'd have any left. I struggled getting everything required in. Now, I'm almost 100 lbs. lighter, my hairs growing back and I've mastered my diet to succeed!
