I'm very sorry for the loss of your uncle. I had similar thoughts as you - I didn't want to die at 65 (or earlier!) a burden to my family because of my weight. It was time to do something drastic...

I'm a week post op today and I've been walking as much as I can tolerate. I thought I was doing well until I looked at my step count and saw I'm getting 2-3k steps per day. I tried to go out to the park for a walk today and really enjoyed it since the weather is beautiful, and this was the first time I've been outside walking since surgery. Well.. I stayed out too long and didn't have enough steam to get me back home. My large incision was extremely painful and I almost passed going up my stairs So I guess my lesson for today is to listen to your body. Right now, I feel challenged at 2k steps per day and I suppose I need to lay off the pressure to do more until I'm better healed. I feel like my activity tolerance should be higher, but I'm not going to push it.

I hope that isn't the case! I had to show a three year history for BC Anthem and I have been steady 35 for two years. The first year I was lower.

    Success stories, please.

Hello, I lost 20 pounds a couple of months prior to my surgery, starting out at 334 pounds... my highest weight ever. Since my surgery, which was about 6-1/2 months ago, I have lost an additional 84 pounds. I still have about 65 pounds to go before I get to my "goal" weight. My weight loss pattern has been much like blizair's as he stated above. I usually lose about 3 pounds a week for a few weeks, then maybe a pound a week for a couple of weeks... then back to losing 3 or so pounds a week. That has pretty much been my pattern for the past few months. During the first two months, the weight came off a little faster. I am in no way discouraged or frustrated when I have those weeks where I only lose a pound. I also hit a couple of stalls a few months back, where I went a couple of weeks without losing any weight. I didn't let that bother me one bit. Stalls are going to happen. I am encouraged by all of the weight loss, and the way my clothes/sizes have changed. I've gone from a 4-5X shirt to an XL (14-16), I've gone from a size 30 pants to a size 18. I am thrilled. Blizair is right, follow your plan, work hard at it, and you will be successful! I have only one regret, that I didn't have the surgery sooner! p.s. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I live in Airway Heights, Washington. Distance should not matter too much in this day and age though. I would be willing to eventually relocate for the right person. I can understand that people have their personal preferences. I just wish people were more understanding and open minded. I am a pretty open minded, laid back, honest person with a good sense of humor. I can listen to all different types of music. I like different types of movies too. I am a hopeless romantic. I struggle with anxiety, but I am working on bettering myself and my life. I am also working on losing weight and getting into shape. I had the sleeve gastrectomy 10/27/2017. I am the type of person that can go out or stay in to have a nice time. It is the company that matters. I have not really been camping, hiking, fishing. I am not much of an outdoorsy person, but I think I would like to start being more outdoorsy. I do love nature. I would not mind trying outdoorsy things at least a couple of times, to make sure if I like it or not. Especially as the weather gets nicer and as I lose more weight too. I would love to go scuba and skydiving someday! I would also like to go horseback riding and ride a motorcycle too. I have not really been bowling before either, so I would like to go bowling. I don't know how to play pool, so that would be cool to learn. I am looking to make friends first and see where it goes. I am not looking for friends with benefits or a one night stand. I am not interested in being played. I would eventually like to have a long term serious monogamous relationship. I am looking for somebody who can challenge me and help me explore the world.

    4 month transformation!!!!

I'm officially down 60 pounds. Today is my 4 month sleeve anniversary. I can't believe i did it. 35 more until i hit my goal. I found out on this journey that i really love weight lifting and boxing. I also found out that healthy eating isn't as bad as i thought it would be. I'm loving my new lifestyle. I don't know why i didn't do this sooner.

    Toast or crackers with meals

I eat the same thing every day. (I am the kind of person that can do that, but I understand that everyone is not wired like that.) I eat 7 times per day, about 2 hours apart. I drink 32 oz of water after Meal 1, another 32 oz after Meal 2, and 16 oz after Meal 3. I also have 16 oz of PowerAde Zero after Meal 6, and 8 oz of water mixed with 8 oz of PowerAde Zero after Meal 7. The meals look like this: Meal 1: 1 scrambled egg with 2 oz grilled chicken breast Meal 2: 4 oz cottage cheese with 1 T of sugar-free strawberry preserves Meal 3: 1 string cheese, 5 ParmCrisps, and 2 oz grilled chicken breast Meal 4: 3 oz salmon with 1 oz green beans Meal 5: 2 oz hamburger steak (90% lean) with 1 oz green beans Meal 6: 3 oz grilled chicken breast with 1 oz green beans Meal 7: 4 oz cottage cheese with 1 T of sugar-free strawberry preserves I've been eating this way since I finished working through my food stages at about 2 months post-op. But, I kept my carbs below 20 grams even during the food stages. I stayed on liquids an extra week because I wouldn't eat the next stage's foods (ripe banana, cream of wheat, etc.), and I just avoided anything on my NUT's list that had carbs. It was tough, but it was the only way I knew that I could be successful. I hope this helps.
