I think some of this answer will come from how well you personally recover as we are all different. I am almost 4 months post-op and I have no foods that I cannot tolerate. There is definitely less hunger and cravings, and I am very happy and healthy right now! Enjoy your Honeymoon!!

I totally agree with your NUT, either Bypass or the Duodenal Switch (DS). I see too many people end up doing revisions to Bypass after doing the sleeve. This was one of the reasons why I changed my mind as well. This surgery is a huge deal and I didn't want to go under the knife more than once. After all the Bypass is the standard of all WLS. The sleeve only gives you restriction, but with the Bypass you get both the restriction and malabsorption (not as much as the DS though). I say do your research speak with ppl that did both.

    Terrific Protein drinks

I was struggling to find a protein drink with enough protein to fulfill my post op requirements yet not be so sickly sweet that it made my already queasy stomach worse but I've finally found it! I went to GNC and they have a line called Isopure that has a whopping 40g of protein, 160 calories, zero carbs. It comes in several flavors, grape, mango/peach, green apple, coconut etc but what is best is that the flavor is very mild, not super sweet at all. I wish I'd had these right after surgery. Love them! I also found the sub-lingual b12 and biotin chewables

    Instagram Documentation

Does anyone have instagram where they are documenting their journey with VSG? My surgery is scheduled for June 29th and I am most definitely starting an IG page to document my journey. My current personal IG page is @diamond_diva1323 so you can follow me there and I will seriously add you to my VSG IG account which is @fit_n_fine_diva. Just as this forum is motivational so are pictures and quotes and progress captured on IG. I have gotten so many great food and exercise ideas just from the people I follow on IG that have had the VSG. Look towards sharing my journey with you and hope to see your journey soon too!

    Post Surgery weight loss

It took a good week for all the extra fluids to wash out. Then I lost 16lbs the next week. Now I am at the dreaded three week stall.

I can't speak to Mexico specifically, but here are some items I found really helpful when I was sleeves 3 weeks ago: 1. Electric heating pad 2. Sleeveless nightgown 3. My favorite pillow with a colored pillowcase (so the nurses knew it came from home) 4. Brand new pack of underwear (just felt good since I couldn't shower until it was time to leave) 5. Flip-flops for walking around. The socks with grippies just didn't do it for me. 6. Check-list of phone numbers for my boyfriend to call to let everyone know I was ok. I divided it up between "Text" and "Call" and included my closest friends, parents, and work team. When I was in recovery he was getting all the congratulatory/good luck/rooting for you notes on my behalf It was great to fully wake up to. 7. Loose yoga pants for going home. Your tummy may be bloated from all the gas used during the procedure. 8. Biotene. Your mouth gets dry from surgery and you may not be able to get up to brush. The minty biotene covers you for both 9. If you use a CPAP and your hospital allows you to bring your own, DO IT. I had a strong reaction to the anesthesia, so I slept for basically the entire first day. The second day I was able to stay awake and alert for longer stretches, but not enough to read or watch tv or use my laptop. I used my phone a little to check Facebook and Pinterest, but I barely remember.

    Day 7 Post Surgery

So...here I am..7 days out. I can see now, that last week was a "honeymoon" phase. Didn't miss or want food. Now...I am doing great, but my head is starting to think...jeez...I have not eaten in a looooong time. I am hungry at times. I have a protein shake, and that stops that...luckily those intervals have worked into 3 "meals" a day. But I am stating to miss eating a little. I find myself thinking of really decadent food, that quite frankly I have not had for months...but they are popping into my head. I am starting to mourn, seems early, and I know once I start driving and getting back out into the world this week, the real challenges will begin. Not gonna lie. Scared..and a little sad. I know its worth it, and I knew what I was getting into, but until you are actually here you have no idea how you will feel. Just wanted to vent, and see if anyone else is feeling this way.
